H2 pool villa was definitely the worst stay among my 4-time visits in Thailand. We had booked a 2-day stay there, looking forward to a memorable experience at this villa, but it really turned out to be awfully memorable for the following reasons. We ultimately decided to leave H2 pool villa and book another Airbnb.
1. Appalling hygiene
I have stayed in youth hostels on previous trips. The dirtiness of this so-called luxurious villa was still far beyond my expectation. When we opened the main door, the sewage-like odor started to strike us. Moreover, there were a lot of dust, stains, and dead bugs everywhere. In the living room, the big, hairy carpet was decorated with a mosaic of sunflower seeds and potato chips. In the kitchen sink, you could find food debris, rubber bands, and chili oil droplets. Even more disgusting, mold was found in the scrub sponges and kitchen towel. Interestingly, food was not only found in the kitchen - there were instant noodles on the carpet in front of the toilet in the living room, with ants crawling around enjoying their meal. Hairs were found in the white sink inside the toilet. I wonder if the housekeeper ever put any effort into cleaning up this villa. Aren't these issues so obvious?
2. Facilities Maintenance
I believe that the biggest selling point of this villa is its beautiful pool. Nonetheless, I am sure you wouldn't want to swim in it. It was full of floating bug corpses from the moment we checked in. The host told us that this should be expected because it was Thailand. However, having visited Thailand four times and stayed in multiple pool villas, this was the first time I had seen so many dead bugs in a pool. They should have set filter, or provided skimmer to get rid of the bugs in swimming pool..
The handle of the chairs next to the dining table was broken, with sharp pins exposed. My friend was nearly cut by the pin.
3. Privacy
The host was also infringing on our privacy. We found that the host had installed a CCTV camera high up on the ceiling in the living room without prior notice to us.
Secondly, we asked the housekeeper to help clean up the mess in the villa. The housekeeper broke into the house without ringing the doorbell, and instead just opened the door by pressing the password.
4. Communication
Communicating with the hosts and housekeepers was the hardest part. We witnessed the housekeeper's cleaning process, and she used the same towel to clean everything, from the dust on the floor to the toilet seat. Although the villa appeared cleaner after the housekeeper's remediation, watching the cleaning process beforehand made us want to leave. When we requested a check-out with a refund, the host disappeared and did not answer any of our calls.
In the end, we had no choice but to cut our losses and book another Airbnb elsewhere. If you value your sanity and want to actually enjoy your vacation in Thailand, I strongly urge you to steer clear of the H2 Pool Villa at all costs. This place is an absolute traveler's nightmare, and your time and money would be far better spent elsewhere. You've been warned!
