John Henry Bed & Breakfast

We really enjoyed our stay here in June 2024. The place is beautiful and the room was very comfortable. Colleen was great, the breakfast was easily one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in my life. Would definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area.

The John Henry B&B is a beautiful, peaceful, elegant place to stay in the exquisite area of Cherry Valley, NY. The owner is a kind owner who tailors each guest's experience. The food was top-notch (the owner is a professional chef) and will accommodate your food allergies. I would stay here again!

Great location in the Catskills and only 20 minutes from Cooperstown dining and services. Inn was beautifully decorated, well-appointed and spotless. Innkeeper Colleen was a delight. Food was first rate. What a great place for fall foliage tour or to visit the baseball hall of fame. Why stay anywhere else?

We found this B + B through an online search as my husband and I were attending an event close by and were not familiar with the area. We were so happy with our experience and feel so lucky to have found this special place. Colleen was warm and welcoming and went out of her way to make our visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The breakfast she made was one of the best I have ever had and everything was homemade by her. Everything was wonderful!

This was a recent repeat visit for us and we were so happy to be back. The B & B is lovely, clean and quiet. The Innkeepers, Colleen and her husband, Richard, are very pleasant and enjoyable to talk to. You quickly feel like old friends. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. The B & B is tastefully appointed and feels like home, especially as this was a repeat visit for us. There is a nice seating area with a television and the dining room has a small well stocked refrigerator of water and soft drinks and, fresh baked goods are available for snacking, including granola bars. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Colleen, who also is a personal chef and caterer, makes delicious baked goods, such as a peach cobbler that is outrageous, as well as muffins and cakes. The first time we were there, she baked a delicious lemon cake. It was so good, we still remember it! Our breakfast was a vegetable quiche that was excellent, with little roasted potatoes and a homemade sausage, from a local butcher. Additionally, there was yogurt with fresh fruit and three types of homemade granola, my favorite was the mocha. This place was a great find last year and so much so, that we returned again this year. We will be back again next year!

We had a wonderful time at John Henry! Colleen and Richard were terrific hosts. Colleen is an exceptional chef. We enjoyed a lovely, comfortable, clean room and a hearty, delicious breakfast, with great company! Thank you so much for your warm hospitality. What a fabulous place to stay!

I booked two nights at the John Henry as part of a birthday weekend getaway for my husband. Hotels in the area can get pretty expensive, since it's close to Cooperstown, but the rates were reasonable. The room was clean, nicely appointed, and cool thanks to a window AC unit. But the real reason you're going to want to stay here is Colleen. I haven't eaten so well in ages. She made multi-course breakfasts both mornings tailored to my dietary needs, and she provided treats throughout the day so that we always had something to snack on. She was a kind and gracious hostess, and I sincerely hope I am able to stay here each time I return to the area.

Lovely place to stay. Super comfortable beds. Love that there are only 3 guest rooms…I felt so pampered.Very accommodating. Colleen was such a pleasure to be around and has incredible cooking skills. Would definitely come back.
