The Stump

Great character place to eat and drink in atmospheric surroundings. Welcoming staff and a great menu to suit all with good choice of dietary requirements. We went with friends and everyone enjoyed the experience. I had a pizza which was melt in the mouth delicious. Would definitely go again.

The Stump was fully booked and we were a walking, they accommodated us and we were delighted they did as I've never tried Pizza like it! I'd fly over again just for it! Pizza is great, cocktails are lovely and the staff were amazing. It's a must visit if you're in the area, or even fancy the drive!!

Brilliant lunch, fun (cheesy garlic bread on a pizza base), grown up (tuna tartare) and deliciously oinky (Nutella mascarpone calzone) sitting outside, excellent service, jolly staff, and OPEN ON A MONDAY! A very rare combination in these parts and very much appreciated.

The people were helpful and the setting was lovely. The cleanliness let it down, pillows were all covered in hairs like a grizzly bear had been sleeping in the bed, no pillow protectors so as the pillow case was opening up all you saw were long black hairs. I messaged the team and they got replaced. The bathroom was tired, hairs everywhere on the walls of the shower and a dirty stain in the shower that could have been scoured off but had been left. The walls were all splashed and marked, simply using bathroom paint would have solved the problem. The breakfast was fine but the bacon was cooked within an inch of its life. To be honest when we saw the state of the pillows we contemplated going home, luckily these were replaced. It just wasn’t worth £139 in our opinion.

We have just celebrated our golden wedding Anniversary 'DO' at the Stump in Russell's barn with family & friends .The event was just brilliant from initial booking with Eavie right through to the end result,the food was just amazing .special thanks to the chefs & to the bar staff ( Mason & Millie) who were just so helpful.Everyone who attended was so impressed with the food & the venue.( I think you may have found some new customers) We had also booked 3 rooms which were lovely & the breakfast again simply delicious. So once again one very big thank you for making our '50th' such a fabulous time. Julie & Bill

Food while being average on price for the area offered what could only be described as a charcoal taste due to the base of each of our Pizzas being burnt. Service was pretty slow and the mandatory 12.5% tip you need to leave on the bill just put me right off ever considering this place again. We were also surrounded by large tables of children screaming their heads off. Not the kind of setting you want as a couple on a Saturday evening. Spend your money elsewhere is my advice.
