We dont usually stay in hotels unless abroad, but thought we'd treat ourselves to a rest before driving home after visiting family. The location itself was nice, welcoming and clean. The staff that greeted us was very polite and explained all that we needed to know and where breakfast would be located and alloted us a time. Then the room, it was very clean and tidy and given the usual walk through with the kids and got the thumbs up of approval from our 3 year old who then shortly got into bed. The bathroom was nice and clean, and the bath filled very quickly and with hot water which was welcoming, however came time to sleep ourselves, my wife to her nature fell asleep in an instant I however could not sleep, the room was hot and the room temperature control kept turning itself off, causing the room to go from a nice temperature to a sauna within minutes. However my main issue was the bed, it felt like I was sleeping on a worse version of my nans bed in the 90s where you could feel every single spring! But the bed was also extremely firm which didnt make sense to me, after literally hours of tossing and turning i finally gave in at 2am and decided the floor was my next option, I slept on the floor. In a hotel that brands itself on Lennie Henry's wonderful nights sleep. To then be woken at 6am by son joyfully rested and myself struggling with 3-4 hours of broken sleep. This was not the experience I expected, nor an experience I would happily pay for again. In the morning my wife thought it was funny that I fell out of bed, however explained that was not the case. She complained about her back aching which through my tired eyes was asked to inspect her, she had a small bruise on her ribs on her back, which after explaining my early morning antics we checked her side of the bed and Lowe and behold turns out the princess can infact not feel a pea. Joking aside, this was an awful night that I have paid for. I dont think ill be doing it again.
