Avoid this place, our check in time was between 3 and 4pm, we arrived at just after 3 to find the hotel locked, we rang the doorbell and tried to phone but no answer to either. Two guests in the hotel came down to go out so they let us in the front door and we then sat in an empty reception area for 1 hour. In the end we had to find alternative accommodation as we were in Chatham for a party in the evening and needed to get ready. We were about to leave when somebody finally turned up and didn't really seem bothered that we had been waiting for over an hour to check in. We told him we had found somewhere else to stay so we didn't even get to see the room but I feel that we probably had a lucky escape.

Me and my sister travelled to Chatham last minute for a family emergency and stayed at the Charles hotel for 3 days... Our stay was amazing the room was clean and bed comfy, bathroom was clean. The staff really couldn't do any more for us they attended to our every need very warm and welcoming. We like it that much we even booked on for an extra night. The Indian restaurant next door is absolutely unbelievable, food cooked fresh and facility is absolutely spotless again the staff attended to every need. Absolutely brilliant customer service both hotel and restaurant. We wouldn't stay anywhere else now whenever we next come to Chatham!

A lovely boutique hotel With a lovely Indian restaurant attached. For a new hotel, they have done really well. They recognise there’s a few small touches to finish off and make it near perfect. I’d recommend to anyone Definitely will stay again

Lovely stay at The Charles Hotel. Lovely clean room, comfortable beds and pillows, great shower. Polite, friendly staff and a great restaurant attached to the hotel. Would like to see a lift though as we were on the top floor :). We would love to go back in the future

Don’t waste your money. Arrived & nobody was at reception for 40 mins. Checked into room & it was dirty- bedsheets were water stained, rusty shower that smelled damp, room & hotel as a whole smelled bad, toilet not clean, room was muggy & too hot, corridors smelled very mouldy. I have cancer & currently getting chemotherapy, I didn’t feel comfortable or clean staying at this hotel even in a different room so we booked a different one. They told us on the day we left they would refund us now they’re refusing to do so. We didn’t even manage one night in the place it was disgusting.

Please don't book this place, absolute tip, should be called "smell" - the entire place stinks, everything is dirty, pillows, duvets, mattresses covered in yellow and brown stains, no light fittings, windows broken, minging shower and toilet with urine stains, stains on carpets, piles of stinking rubbish outside the place. I'd rate -100000 if I could. Disgusting.

Host was very accommodating, food o. The restaurant was absolutely amazing (especially the mint sauce and lamb chops) staff couldn’t do more. Room was very cosy and clean. We will definitely be returning to this hotel

Avoid this hotel. I had to go out and buy cleaning products to clean the shower before getting in. The rooms are tired and tatty. Noise levels from doors banging keeps you awake at night. No facility to call someone out of hours when there is a raging argument in the room next door to you. Family members stayed in another room and the windows didn't open. Placed a complaint with the hotel and no response from them. Worst hotel I've stayed in.

As we arrived early due to my partner needed to do insulin, we told the man on the desk but he charged a £10 early booking in fee , the shower was freezing cold even though we swithed the hot water on from the wall. The heated towel rail was on constantly even though we had switched it off! WILL NOT BE GOING BACK 🤬
