I’m an a Travel Agent with nearly 40 years of experience & have to say I was a little apprehensive about this trip booked with Newmarket for the Montreux Christmas festival when I read some of the reviews about the hotel. However, we went with open minds & had the most amazing time. The hotel is a small but very beautiful wooden chalet type hotel. It has the most amazing views and is walkable up to the village past an excellent coop for anything you could want for your room. Shops are closed Monday & Tuesdays but cafes, restaurants and the coop are not. A local taxi is available for a 15swiss franc charge to take you up to the village if less able. The hotel is accessed via an open but covered very pretty & wonderfully decorated and throughout the hotel, with Christmas decorations and vintage skis, sledges etc walkway to the rooms from the reception. There are ground level rooms and others that lead off down other connected corridors and further up stairs to another couple of levels, those of you less able, there is no lift so ask in advance of travel for a ground/first floor room. The rooms are spotlessly clean & very warm, but you can always open a window! You do have WiFi which worked very well but bring some Swiss adapters, a travel kettle, cups and tea & coffee etc, you can grab some milk etc from the coop and keep it on your windowsill. The bathroom had a wonderful powerful with tons of hot water shower, it also had lots of soap and shampoo. If you want thick fluffy towels bring your own but they were fine. Through the small reception and there are loos just down some stairs and have a comfy waiting area, you enter the huge high ceiling dining room which has a bar in the corner and a fantastic outside seating area too. Our trip included breakfast and evening meal. Breakfast consisted of homemade breads and preserves, yoghurts, fruits, cold cheeses and meats, cereals, juices and a boiled egg maker that you just drop your required eggs into and set the time. Teas and coffees and juices. All very fresh and lovingly put together & constantly freshly refilled. The evening meal menu, posted in advance at reception gave you the chance of opting for a vegetarian option (give them notice) It consisted each night of 3 courses of homemade, served with fresh breads and jugs of water, some of the most wonderful food I’ve ever had. Very hearty but very healthy too & im a real foodie that loves my food! Every evening was something entirely different & they do cater for allergens. You can purchase drinks at the bar and bring to the table, including bottles of wine. By having the menu, you can also decide if you want to dine out but personally, the food was so exceptional, I really wouldn’t bother. I’d say there were around 50 folk staying there when we were there, all as part of the Newmarket group but had all come from different airports to join the tour but they catered very well and very efficiently. I would certainly return to this hotel and highly r
