Family-run guesthouse. The rooms are simple but spacious, clean, and comfortable. Paul and his family are friendly and helpful, and assisted us with transport to and from Riung, as well as with the organization of our trip around the 17 Islands Archipelago. We had dinner at the guest house and it was absolutely delicious. The home-cooked meal was full of flavour and clearly made with care. It felt like a true taste of local hospitality – fresh, hearty, and comforting.

I rated Riung Guesthouse 4 out of 5 because of the welcoming friendly host Paul, and his staff; truly humble and gracious people. The room was sparse as was the bathroom, but clean. It’s obvious tourism in Flores has not reached much further than Labuan Bajo but these inland villages are truly beautiful. It’s like Bali 40+ years ago where all the locals say hello ( and want a selfie with you!) Riung is where we did a day trip out to 17 Islands, organised by Paul. An incredible day of snorkelling, deserted island beaches, and a BBQ fish lunch which was delicious. Please stay here

Good location (20min walk to the port, good restaurants around). Room was comfortable and clean with everything you need (even a washing line in front of every room). No wifi or hot water but that's not a problem there. Paul is an amazing host who will make you feel like home and help you with everything you need. Thank you again!

Entering this little guesthouse was like entering a very peacefull place. The chambers with small terras situated on a nice garden are super. Mr Paul, the very friendly and helpfull owner showed us everything and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed our stay here, in this corner of Flores.

Clean rooms with AC and beautiful garden. Paul and his staff are super helpfull and will arrange you a captain to take you to the marine park and also transportation to your next destination if needed. Good breakfast. This is your place to be in Riung!

Aug 2023. Paul and his family gave us an incredible warm welcome. The rooms are behind his house. The garden is lovely, well maintained. The rooms are basic but spacious and super clean. Not really warm shower (it was warm weather so no problem) and also low water pressure. Rooms also have a nice little terrace and clothes line for drying stuff. We got served some tea/coffee, so relaxing. The village has a few good but basic restaurants (cooked to order so go early or be prepared to wait long!) within walking distance of the guesthouse. Breakfast is a delish pancake with fruit and coffee/tea. We did not use any other services like driver or boat arrangement, we had a driver ourselves who took care of that with us. Paul is always up for a chat and told us about how he started the guesthouse. He's very humble. Invited us to try some arak when he was having dinner with other drivers/guides. So nice! It is a great experience to see a bit of his home and local life in Flores. Everyone keeps checking in if things are good or if you need anything. Highly recommend this place!

I stayed 3 nights at Paul's guesthouse instead of 1. The place is really beautiful and Paul helped me to manage my boat trip and organise my following days. He brought me to amazing viewpoints and to visit many local places. It was amazing ! I recommand to stay in this place and meet Paul, amazing guy ! The room is well equiped with a little terrasse with view on the garden 😊

I stayed just one night in Riung Guesthouse, but I really enjoyed sleeping there. Very nice, comfortable and clean room. The owner Paul is a really wonderful person, very friendly and helpful for anything I was asking to about trips and tips around Flores. I was lucky I stayed there and met him because he helped me a lot with my motorbike tour since he is also a professional tour guide around the island. We shared a lot of nice stories and had really interesting conversations. I highly recommend Riung Guesthouse, I hope to go there once again or meet him somewhere around Indonesia.
