This is my second time staying at Bay Towers on North Caye Caulker. It was chosen both times for the quiet atmosphere away from busy South Caye Caulker. The first time I visited, I found the rooms, beach area, pool and available kayaks and bikes to be everything I needed and more. The owner at the time was one of the nicest people I have ever met, so when my family decided to go to Belize, I chose Bay Towers again. I was surprised to find out that the property had been sold. No matter. It was so nice the first time, we were going to go there again! We booked well in advance. There was a little snafu with our reservation before we arrived, but it was taken care of quickly. We arrived at Bay Towers from the airport in Caye Caulker at around 2:45. Our rooms were ready, so we settled in. There are no elevators here, but the highest room is on the 4th floor. The rooms have pretty much everything you need to be comfortable. Some additional kitchen utensils would be convenient, but not necessary. The double beds were a little too firm for my taste, but they didn’t keep me from sleeping! The air conditioning worked well except for in one of the bedrooms. Leaving the door open at night solved that minor issue. The property had 6 total rooms, a pool, and a dock the first time I came. All of those things are still there and are being well taken care of. The surprising thing is that the new owner, Greg, is making some wonderful improvements. The dock has been made longer with a partial roof so it can be used in rain or shine - and it offers some nice shade, breezes, and beautiful sunsets. He is also building a bar that will have some snack offerings, music, and TV’s to watch the game. It should be open soon! There are other plans for the future, so going back to see the continued progress is definitely an option. The rooms were clean, and housekeeping came every other day. If something was needed on a day housekeeping wasn’t scheduled, that was no problem. All you have to do is ask! They will even do laundry for you if you need it done. The bikes are still available to ride around the island. We took them one morning to Bliss Beach and spent a couple of hours there. It’s a nice place with a bar and charcuterie. I did see the kayaks but did not use them on this trip. We went snorkeling from the dock all the way over to the mangroves. There are also some new restaurants open that are close to Bay Towers in case you get hungry and don’t want to cook or go across the Split. Happy Lobster North is a very nice restaurant. They will pick you up in a golf cart and bring you back to the resort when you are finished eating! The new owner, Greg, and his staff are absolutely fantastic! They are all very personable and will hang out with you. Austin is currently the all around right hand man, but he is soon also going to be a fabulous chef in the new bar/restaurant. He went above and beyond in cooking the Spanish Mackerel we caught when we were on a fishing trip
