I would only give this a 2 star rating. The staff are lovely, friendly and efficient. Breakfast very good. Although the room was nice & the bed was comfortable it’s a very cramped room. Sadly the bathroom was a huge let down, door handle hanging off, sink not clean, shower really not clean to the point of unhygienic. Toilet makes very loud noise when flushes which lasts several minutes. The state of the bathroom took away completely from all the positives, a clean bathroom is a must.

Poor experience for the price of the hotel. €140 for a night before adding breakfast. No hot water in the shower with staff getting notified and still doing nothing. Added breakfast but didnt get a choice of coffees. Waited a while before getting served. Ordered scrambled eggs along with pancakes and had to ask for the eggs twice before getting them at the end. Pancakes were not as nice as advertised, tesco pancakes are nicer and more fluffy. Eggs took 20 mins to make and my girlfriend said they made her feel sick. Only plus is bed being comfortable. Absolutely everything else is not worth more than €80 for the night.

Myself and my mother got a delicious dinner and were looked after exceptionally well by a waiter called IQBAL who delivered extra spuds and great service. 10/10 experience.

Decided to have Sunday lunch out. Only 1 roast on offer but not really a big deal. I had the beef burger. My husband had the lasagne. The lasagne was satisfactory but nothing special. The burger was not nice. It was tough to cut into. It was just a big mass of dense meat which didn't taste particularly nice. The bacon was as close to raw as I have ever seen. I was going to complain initially but I absolutely hate doing so. In hindsight I should have and maybe got a replacement that would have been nicer. Lesson learned for the future. The staff on the other hand were so pleasant and welcoming. The young lad who served us was very professional and lovely. I know the manager was made aware of my complaint but he chose not to follow it up with us. Very disappointing. Not sure if I/We would return. Shame really because the dining area looks fabulous.

Stayed in the Hotel for 1 night, the noise in the room was extremely loud, was unable to sleep. Reported it to Reception, they where unable to help. Have emailed the Hotel with No Response. I would advise people not to there. Next time in Castlebar will stay in another Hotel

We’re In Castlebar hospital today, decided to go to the green room restaurant in the tf Royal for lunch, I had the salmon which I enjoyed €18. and my granddaughter had the steak pie also good at €17. The staff were nice and helpful. My problem was when we ordered a ham salad sandwich to go €11.50 it came in a container with the bacon between the bread with the salad on the side, we weren’t given a knife and fork or napkins, I sill can’t get my head around this, I don’t know am I out of touch. Differently won’t be returning 😧

Some feedback on Abba tribute event on Friday night. The group were fantastic. The layout of the room was completely wrong for a group like this. People sitting to the right of the room had to walk across the stage in a very narrow space to access the toilet and bar. The bar was poorly serviced taking ages to get served. A guy acting as security approached a group of young girls dancing at the second song of the night and told them to sit down. He wandered the event like a grumpy security guard at a demonstration. They left at half time. When we said this to him at the end of the night and he said he didn't want them to fall. We were at an Abba tribute band!!! Who thought no one was going to dance. The facility needs to consider things like this going forward. Thank god it didn't ruin our night as we ignored him and continued to dance .

The room was good with a very comfortable bed. The Internet was poor and although I complained to reception as I had to work on my laptop in the room, they said there was nothing they could do, which was disappointing. The car park was full on arrival and I had to park elsewhere for a couple of hours until a space became available. The noise from the next room was audible especially when the water was used, it made a most unusual noisy sound. I had fish and chips in the restaurant, which was average although the service was very good. On balance I wouldn't stay again.

Lovely hotel, great location, spacious rooms, lovely staff and lovely food. We had breakfast in the Yew Cafe and a really lovely home made food sourced locally. Normally Irish breakfast, fluffy pancakes, açai bowls and healthy options to choose from.
