Almost everything about our stay was superior: the professional and friendly staff, the cleanliness of the property, the design, the beautiful spa, the quality of the food, the creativity and attention to detail of the cocktails served at the bar by bartender, Gabor, the professionality and expertise of the head-waiter/sommelier, Thomas… we had the feeling that the entire team of the Lamm really works at a very high level of competence. If I could find fault in anything, it’s only that our room had very dry air quality making it hard to sleep comfortably. Our room was under the pathway that leads to the outdoor whirlpool and often sounded like elephants were trampling over our bed early in the morning by either guests or from cleaning. We thought the Gourmet restaurant Lampl Stube wasn’t worth the high cost. I think the idea of offering an extra gourmet option is an interesting one, but at the price point offered, it didn’t live up to our expectations. The quality of the food included in the pension at the main restaurant is above average to excellent quality and that offered in the Lampl Stube was definitely a notch higher, but not enough to give us any "wow" factor. The 4 Course menu starting at €98 is steep especially for hotel guests who forfeit a dinner already paid for in the main restaurant. I am aware that the the specialty items on the menu of the gourmet restaurant were very exclusive, but the taste and presentation was often underwhelming. One example would be the very good saffron risotto which had tasteless gold leaf sprinkled on the top and rare steamed mussels imported from Spain/Portugal served in a sad little pot to share. It might sound impressive on a menu, but the taste of the mussels were quite neutral and wasn’t worth the effort, in our opinions. We just thought the menu was trying too hard to be impressive instead of offering an uniquely creative and genuine statement from a passionate chef. The highlights of the menu were the amuse bouche and the fish course which was perfectly cooked and accompanied by an interesting sauce. The service by Mara was excellent and attentive and it was cool to have the dining room to ourselves that evening, so it was in all very enjoyable, just not a highlight nor something we would have to do again unless there is a change of concept for the next time we visit. In all, we are already planning to return to the Lamm as the hotel and staff are excellent, as well as the location and we loved the variety of winter activities offered in the area including easy access to the expansive ski resort on Seiser Alm.
