So very disappointed we have been so looking forward to going to theSally for so long . Lots of wonderful recommendations. But we went as a party on Sunday. The starters were disappointing my husbands soup looked so unappetising his spoon could have stood up in it as it was so thick and tasteless. I had the Gin marinated salmon I have never had such a disappointing starter served up to me, it was tiny the salmon what was so tasteless. The roast dinner was tasty but majority of it was cold. You have had a wonderful reputation for so long it’s a shame to see your standard drop. Seemingly it’s deteriorated since new year having now spoken to other people . Even local people.

Went for family meal. Staff were lovely, food served quick but only 1 vegetarian option available, which was probably not vegetarian as it has parmesan cheese which is usually made with calves rennet. No vegan options at all despite website saying it has many vegetarian options and caters for other dietry requirements. One member of the group got the steak frites and said the steak was stone cold. Dont think we will go back. Dissapointed.

Fabulous Sunday lunch with family. In particular, stunning French onion soup and roast beef perfection. All the staff went above and beyond. Would not hesitate to return made our family anniversary celebrations extra special, above and beyond. Thank you so much.

It was originally The Salutation, but is now known by its nickname. Had lunch, and very good it was too - the meat pie was meaty and the fish pie, in the right way, was fishy. Both were cooked with flair and were also hot. The service was prompt and friendly. There is also parking at the front, and in the car park to the rear.

Another amazing evening at this wonderful restaurant. Thursdays are Steak night, best fillet steaks we’ve ever had, cooked to perfection & a very nice house red! The staff are awesome, very attentive & so cheerful too. Thank you Tom, a lovely local lad, went to school with my Jayne. Keep up the good work team xx

Always enjoy Sunday Lunch here.Nice atmosphere in a small village pub.Good home cooked food Prawns starter is delicious.Roast beef melts in your mouth.would definitely recommend to visit.Staff friendly and welcoming.Vicky looks after you well.

The Sally was a pleasant surprise! We were expecting a nice place to stay but this beat our expectations. Very nice dining room, good bar/pub and our room was superb... roomy, updated and modern. We had dinner and breakfast here and both were very good. Service for both meals was a bit slow but the food was very good and the portions were perfect. For Hadrian's Wall Path walkers, The Sally is short walk off the trail but not too inconvenient....15-40 minutes off the path depending on your direction. This was the only hotel on our Hadrian journey that had our bags in the room upon arrival and after walking 10-15 miles, it's nice not having to haul our bags upstairs!

We booked for four for a Friday evening and were glad we did as the restaurant was packed. Parking was also an issue but we managed to find a space on the road not to far away from the pub. There was a good choice on the menu and they were able to cater for a couple of our party who had specific allergies. The food was really tasty, plentiful and well served and we all managed three courses, which was a bit piggy, but the deserts were so tasty. The staff were really friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Good selection of beers wine etc made for a great evening out.

Such a shame - nice room, delightful staff and good food but pub v noisy much later than advertised right below our room and I finally put earplugs in at 12.48am as it was like sleeping in a night club. Not ideal when you are trying to get early night for walking the next day.
