Our first visit to Ghan House and we will certainly be back. So different to the usual hotel experience, this is a real Georgian house experience. Wonderful staff and amazing food. Everything you could want for a break that is that little bit special.

We stayed for a mini moon after getting married and we couldn’t have wished for a better place to start off our married life. All the staff at Ghan House were attentive, kind and nothing was too much trouble. It is obvious in every staff member that they care about the little details. Whilst we didn’t dine at Ghan House, our breakfast was perfect each morning. The home made jams and breads were delicious and it set us up for a day of exploring Carlingford. The house had a simple, cosy atmosphere and the spot by the fire was the perfect place to relax. The rooms were comfortable and had so much personality, it was a real treat. Thank you to Paul and the rest of the team, we do hope to visit again in the future.

We discovered Ghan House via a random Facebook pop up over the summer. We booked to stay Fri 11th Oct on the B&B and dinner package. We checked in and got shown to our Garden room The room was magnificent, so spacious, wirh a large and comfortable bed and a lovely roll top bath. We met Paul in the small but cosy bar pre dinner. I'd read the history of the house and it was great to meet Paul and see his passion and pride for his business and guests. Our meal was amazing and the setting in the dining room really cosy. All the staff that we met were excellent. Being able to sit in the drawing room with the lovely open fire after our meal was brilliant Our breakfast was excellent and the service again excellent We thoroughly enjoyed our break and would definitely recommend if you are wanting to switch off for 24hrs We would love to return again in the future The house is a few seconds walk to the village of Carlingford with some lovely shops to potter in and enjoy a coffee along the way Thank you for a wonderful break

From the moment we visited Ghan House we knew it was the place for us to get married in and it did not disappoint and managed to exceed our expectations. All the team were amazing before and on the day. The ease of organising everything with them was truly remarkable and nothing was too much trouble. On our day the team were there when ever we or our guests needed them however at the same time it not feel like they were over crowding us in that the venue truly felt like it was our home for the day. The relaxed yet professional manner is unique and truly appreciated by all our guests including our (nervous) selves. Nothing was ever too much even when Paul himself had to arrive at 7 am to cook us breakfast on the morning we were leaving early for our honeymoon.The food was absolutely amazing on our wedding day and every other day. All our guests loved the venue and complimented every aspect of Ghan House. We really can not thank everyone from the team front of house to all the team behind the scenes for making our wedding day and 3 day stay in Ghan House remarkable. Can not wait to return in April for our 1st Anniversary and hopefully for many years to come! Darren & Lisa April 2013

A must visit for 2021. Staycation with 100% reward. Lovely location at the foot of the mountains take your time to enjoy one of the best views around and Ghan House One of Ireland's best Boutique hotels. Highly trained staff and high quality food. Best friendly welcome waiting for you.

Stayed for 1 night including dinner. House has great character. Beautifully furnished. Dinner was excellent. Try the venison!!Nice walks and activities nearby. Paul, Orla and staff very friendly and helpful. Some noise from corridor from a door that kept slamming but gave polite feedback and they thanked me for letting them know and was told it would be fixed immediately.

Overall we were disappointed. The bedroom and bathroom in the main house were fine if a little faded. The public rooms were somewhat limited - not much room for residents if it is fully booked with added non-residents dining. The dining room itself was quaint but the food was poor - overcooking an apparent problem. We found the service and staff no better than adequate. Breakfast was the same. We never came across any management or anyone who presented themselves as such so there was little use in raising issues. We will simply vote with our feet and not return. We would have expected more from a long standing Blue Book member

Absolutely beautiful from start to finish. Beautiful well maintained period house, rooms immaculate & lots of lovely attention to small details. Felt totally relaxed & welcomed from moment we arrived. Food in restaurant was of really high quality & served beautifully in a really unique setting. Close to all amenities of the town but still so tranquil. Would go back in a heartbeat.
