Amazon Tupana Jungle Lodge

It’s hard to review this fairly as the overall experience was great. The activities, the nature, afternoon naps in the hammock, the dolphins literally swimming off the dock! That being said we stayed in superior rooms and they are VERY rustic as other reviewers have stated. If you are looking for luxury in the jungle this is not your place. The rooms are sparse, the bathrooms not pleasant. No WiFi, air conditioning, screens not windows which I knew but also no hot water! You have to basically understand that you are almost “camping in a cabin” for your time there. The food prepared by the staff was delicious, our guide Antonio and the other guides were excellent. Definitely a memorable experience just know what you are getting into! Bring cash to tip your guides and the staff. Bring a wet bag for trips and also for your wet clothes returning (hard to get things to dry completely.). Bring snacks if you want (food served at specific times and nothing else available.). We were fine but if you get hungry or are picky you might want some snacks- nuts, crackers, etc. bring a refillable water bottle as they have a filtered water machine you can use.

Visiting the Amazon is a once in a life time experience and I cannot wait to come back! The activities were excellent, I felt safe and looked after. I can absolutely recommend staying at Amazon Tupana Lodge. The location is remote and the facilities are great. We stayed for 4 days and felt so comfortable. There were a variety of activities on the program (jungle trek, different boat rides, etc.). Our guides Carlos and William were wonderful! Carlos led every activity with such passion and effort, he is an outstanding guide. Both he and William made our experience at Amazon Tupana Lodge unforgettable. In fact, the food was exceptional - a lot of wonderful Brazilian treats. Overall, I can highly recommend staying at Tupana!

It was our first time in the Amazon and we couldn't have been luckier to experience it from Amazon Tupana. The lodge is in a stunning setting built on top of a hill overlooking a river frequented by pink river dolphins and offers incredibly friendly and knowledgable staff, delicious local food served at each meal and a range of accommodation options from more rustic to upmarket. All of which are great value, especially when including the guided tours that run into the Amazon nearly three times a day on top of all of that. Special thanks to our guide Carlos for sharing so much of his knowledge, humor and good spirits with us during our stay. It really made the trip.

I will try to find the best words to describe the life changing adventure my family and I had while staying at Amazon Tupana. Being a Brazilian, it was my dream to visit Amazônia, but it's not an easy or very affordable location. I contacted a few hotels, but Tupana was the only one that made me feel confident enough, so my family and I stayed 4 days and 3 nights. From the very beginning of the trip, we felt very welcome and at home. The van driver Charles is an amazing person and extremely friendly. When we got to the lodge, Lima (the guide) and Marcia (the manager) welcomed us in a very warm way. The food is really good and the boat tours are amazing. Because of the acidity of the river, there are not that many mosquitoes, which is great. Also, know that if you're staying at tupana, your money is supporting the local community directly. They will take you to visit the natives (who they financially support monthly), so remember to have cash or clothes/books for donation. It made me happy to know that during the pandemic, the owner of tupana raised around 8.000,00 reais to support the ribeirinhos, so they could have gasoline for boats and food. Amazonia is an important natural beauty, but don't forget that many people depend on it for their existence, so I would rather stay in a place that invest that money back to the locals, instead of somewhere that pocket their profit and doesn't care about the community. My experience at Tupana was 10/10.

We were 4 adults staying 5 days at the Amazon Tupana Lodge. Amazing stay and very nice and friendly staff serving the best food breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our guide Carlos Grandez was outstanding. He had a high knowledge of the rainforest and it's animals, birds, trees etc and the fact that he was excellent English speaking gave us five fantastic days in the rainforest. Together with his assistant and boat driver we got a brilliant service and had many amazing experiences. It was simply the best holiday of our life and we can highly recommend the lodge and the tour guides Carlos Grandez and his assistant Rivaldo. Thank you all
