Kookaburra Holiday Park

No one at the office to help check in at 3.30pm. Rang and was told take site 9 after we had to prove that we had booked it yesterday. Not at all suitable for us. Rang them again said we could have 4. They would send the code for toilets. It is nothing like the photo s it’s old gritty. They had already taken out money. The site was like walking back into the fifty’s and site was very dirty. The group g/day group should be ashamed.

The park is well situated just a few hundred metres from town, the pool looks like it is maintained and is inviting and the prices are good. So if that ticks all your boxes then you would probably be happy here. We weren't unhappy but the park looks quite dated and just a bit shabby. One of the big problems we have with these older parks is that when they were planned a large van would have been 19 foot so that now with a larger van the sites are either very tight or there isn't any room for you to turn into them. The site we were given is long enough for our van but there wasn't the room ahead to allow us to turn in and it would have been very cosy between the slab and the fence so we chose just to park on the slab.

I took the time to read the reviews and realised quickly, the bad reviews are from last year with old management. The new team is great. I dealt with Amber a few times on the phone, polite & helpful. Another lady was coming out the door as I arrived (didn't catch her name) but had the world's biggest smile and seemed lovely. I stayed in cabin number 16, which you can see has been renovated. Very nice, Very clean. I was only here for 1 night but would definitely stay again and definitely recommend it. The only things I would suggest are, a bathroom window blind or curtain as, even though it's frosted glass you can see in (as per pic), and the air con didn't have a heat function. If it does it wasn't working. I need heat as I'm a cold frog. No noise from main road (that I noticed anyway).Key drop box for early departures like most places. I drove through the park seemed nice and quiet, which suits me. And walking distance to the beach, which i might add has the best sun rises (see pics) This trip was something I had to cancel and rebook and Amber had arranged a voucher for me which I used. Not a bad little town either. Give this place a go!
