I am pretty picky when it comes to luxury hotels ... or hotels, in general. And I can honestly say that this was one of my top 10 hotel experiences ever ... and there have been a lot. Mr. Federico, the GM and his staff were fantastic hosts and made us feel like royalty during our 48 hour stay. Most of the staff have worked at the hotel for a long time, so they are knowledgeable about not only the hotel, but Capri itself. We were assigned a room with a beautiful, completely private patio overlooking the pool, outdoor bar and ocean/mountain in the background. It was stunning ... like something out of a movie. We thought this was the best view in the property because you can see the town and the ocean/mountain in the distance. The other side has unobstructed views of the blue sea and the two big rocks, so it may be more preferred for some. These rooms will also be quieter and a bit more private, if you are sensitive to bar/pool music and noise, which you get on the pool side, however we enjoyed our view better and being able to walk directly down stairs to the pools was nice. The shower was luxurious marble and had a wonderful rain shower and large sink. Plenty of storage space and high quality towels. Slippers and bathrobes are provided and it might have been the most comfortable robe I've ever worn. The bed was a bit firm for my liking but my gf liked it as she prefers a firmer mattress. Feather pillows were soft and there was no noise from other rooms. The room design itself might be called a bit sterile ... but in a classy/modern way. It felt like a resort in Arizona to me, but fans of minimalist style will embrace it as clean and crisp design. If you want bright and vibrant colors, you won't find them ... its more of a neutral/classy vibe. The function was great ... a big closet where you can store your bags and clothes, out of the way of your room living space and a small seating area. The patio was the star of the room and where we spent the most time. It's a short walk to downtown. You will take an absolutely beautiful street lined with flowers, resorts and designer stores. Plenty of ability to explore the area too. We walked to Villa Jova (Roman ruins) one day, only to find it closed. However, there is an outdoor bar on the way back called Bar Jova. It's a bit of a hike from the hotel & downtown area but through cool residential streets with beautiful estates. The bar itself has stunning ocean panderamic views and cheap drinks. On the way back is a local grocery store called Salumeria Barbone which makes great sandwiches and has local cheese. While there are many gelato shops in town, the best is Buonocore. Long lines later in the day ... they also have wonderful pastries, etc. We ate most of our meals at the hotel. The only thing we did not enjoy at the hotel was the restaurant Monzu. It has a Michelin star but out of the 5 courses included in our menu, we did not enjoy even one and the meal took nearly 3 hours. (Nor did other guests
