Travelodge Canterbury Chaucer Central

This is a great little hotel. Rooms downstairs are big but the upper floors are on the small side. There is no lift so anybody with mobility issues need to stay on the ground floor. Limited parking but there were plenty of spaces when we arrived at 15:30. They have recently refurbished the headboard to incorporate USB A and C charging but for some strange reason there is no shelf to place your device when charging so everything has to go on the floor. I also like to use my phone as a clock at night when charging which I wasn't able to do. Decent size TV. Storage was poor tho because our room was very small. Only space to hang clothes. no draws. Breakfast was the usual fare and was OK. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lost a star because of the lack of storage and no shelving on the headboard.

Nice hotel with parking, very central, friendly team. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return.

This is a great location for exploring Canterbury, everything is within walking distance, and the city has plenty of decent places to eat. The Cathedral was a 10minute walk away, at my pace anyway. St Augustine’s Abbey was just around the corner from the hotel. We stayed at the Travelodge Chaucer Hotel as it looked pretty central on the map which it proved to be. The staff were lovely and very knowledgeable about the city. As with any city it wasn’t quiet at night with sirens and the usual traffic noise but the bed was so comfortable we slept well. Downside was an unheated bathroom, though it wasn’t especially cold during our stay, perhaps other rooms didn’t have the same problem? Breakfast ok, just light bites available in the evening.

I wouldn’t recommend staying in this hotel - ok breakfast with better plant-based options than some other hotels but that’s the only plus. Fairly comfortable bed but room not cleaned to my satisfaction - very cold - heating not working properly so needed to request a separate heater - leaking toilet - no lift in the hotel and soundproofing non-existent - U could hear creaking floorboards all night, incessant talking by other guests above and next door and even their snoring - not at all a pleasant stay!

Rooms far too small, nothing like the generic photo they use on their website, bathroom was awful. The positive was its location, you can walk everywhere. The staff were lovely.

If you want a reasonably priced place to stay in Canterbury then I would recommend this hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the meals are good value.
