Renovations taking place, but this was not an issue. Although we were booked in to room 121 on the wing where they were doing flooring, first night was OK second night we come back to the hotel and front desk said nothing to us coming in but we were stopped halfway down the hall by workers. They told us the wing we were on was supposed to be vacant and said it was not safe to be there because of the fumes and to see the front desk. Went to the front desk and they said they would move us but it was already 8:30 PM and we were tired. Went back to the room to pack our stuff which took us about 15 minutes and by the time we were finished, we both had headaches… Head was feeling heavy and we were both having breathing issues so we decided to just leave because the fumes were so strong in the room that we just wanted to get out of the hotel. Manager was willing to comp breakfast the next morning but we figured a $30 breakfast was not worth risking our lives staying in a hotel where they did not even know we were in the room that we were in… No one was very concerned that we were already sick from the fumes or that they didn’t even know we were in the room that we were in… Asked for the general manager or owner to call me, but no one responded. Will be reporting this to OHS and Alberta health as breathing toxic fumes is unacceptable and a hotel not knowing what room their guests are in is just as unacceptable and will be reported to the hotel Association.
