Crown Hotel

Great rooms in good location on Main Street. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming . Rooms were small but perfect for a 1 night stay. Everything was very clean and very well equipped. Breakfast was included and perfect for a quick bite before check out. Would definitely stay again.

Dropped in here for lunch after a trike tour, really enjoyed it, my wife had fishcakes and I had haggis neeps and tatties with whisky sauce. Piping hot, lovely flavour, large portions, and all served quickly by a really nice guy and his female colleague, sorry we didn't catch your names. Well done, we will be back.

Yes it's rooms above the pub, yes they could be updated however our very big en-suite room was very clean, nice sheets & pillowcases, extremely comfy bed & very good pillows. The pub downstairs was very friendly & welcoming & serving good value food. Breakfast was ok, your normal bacon, sausage, egg, beans, mushrooms, tomato, hash brown with plenty of toast, juice & tea/coffee and all served by very helpful & friendly staff. For the total cost of £49.50 B&B for 2 people it really is very good value for money :)

Second visit here it has changed hands since last time but it’s still outstanding. The staff were friendly and helpful the room was warm and very clean, there were tea and coffee making facilities with a chocolate biscuit (nice). There was no cooked breakfast but a continental breakfast was available to help yourself to which was really good. The evening meals were typical pub fare but was exceptionally good and very reasonably priced would recommend the fish and chips biggest and best I’ve ever had !!

It is such a shame as it would have been a 5 however there were issues with the service. The food, comfort, entertainment were all great and cannot fault the food at all. The staff consisted of two young women and a young guy, who they themselves were lovely, polite and friendly however there was a consistent delay in being served at our table. We ordered a bottle of wine when we arrived and while looking at the menu. One of the girls came to get our food order and we explained that we were still waiting on our wine. 10 mins later, the guy said they had no 750ml bottles and had to get one and it was now being chilled so we asked for 2 individual bottles while we were waiting. Food came, individual bottles finished during eating our meal then we were sitting waiting to order desserts when the bottle of wine arrived. No thanks meal was over. We had to ask twice to get desserts as well. I wouldn't have said it was over busy for a Saturday night but was a shame how it dampened our night a bit. Would still return though.

My husband and I stayed at the Crown hotel for one night before going to the highland games nearby. We were in awe at how quaint and lovely this little town was as soon as we drove in. We were greeted warmly by hotel staff who immediately ensured we had a table reserved for dinner. There is a GORGEOUS grass lake/river right across the street with benches and a few small trails to walk on. You absolutely must spend some time there on your visit. The pub downstairs had delicious food and the staff was very helpful. On Saturday nights there is also fantastic live music in the pub. The music is not too loud if you are in your room upstairs so after we enjoyed our time listening, we were able to easily get some rest. I highly recommend this stay!
