Bear Flag Inn

My husband and I have patronized Bear Flag Inn, a local 5-room bed and breakfast for years. The owners, Dennis and Marjorie, are delightful and make a great breakfast! As we have been coming for years, this couple are like family. The Bear Flag Inn is a hidden gem, quaint and quiet. We are at home every time we come. It is located on Highway 29 just a mile north of its intersection with Lincoln so wonderfully located. We will continue coming back if Dennis and Marg will have us!

This is an adult Inn, meaning no children under 18. Exactly what I needed. Very warm and inviting place. Dennis and his wife are quite the hosts. When I said I would be arriving late, they said there will be cold bottled water in the outside fridge. There was. I felt like I was coming home even though I had never been here. The atmosphere is quiet, natural, and calm. Just what I needed to decompress from the wedding I was attending. The stars shining over the vineyard at night is such a relaxing place to enjoy some time or wine. Dennis makes his own and has a great reputation in the valley. There is a pool, which I imagine would be nice, if there wasnt so much more to do in the daytime. Breakfast was an eggs benedict and fruit spread treat. I stuffed myself with the best eggs benedict I have ever had! Its communal dining, so I was thrilled to speak with fellow travellers. The bed was more than comfortable and the shower was clean and stocked with shampoo and soap. I really cant say enough. Dennis was so nice. I told I wasnt drinking this weekend and he made sure to get me some non alchoholic beer without me even asking! I had a tear in my eye when I had to leave, and a yearning to make it back here soon. Its very centrally located to all the other vineyards. Its about 15 mins door to door, and just far enough from the frenzy. Book this place! You wont regret it! P.S. I stayed in the Peter Storm room. That stained glass bear is a rendition of his award winning California flag.

Slightly dated property but friendliness of older proprietors and knowledge of area more than make up for this. Welcoming happy hour wine with wonderful stories combined with awesome breakfast make this a place to stay in Calistoga.

A traditional B&B in all the best ways. Just outside downtown Calistoga but calm and quiet in the middle of a vineyard and fruit orchard. Spacious, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast with farm-fresh eggs, and convivial hosts Dennis and Marjorie who know everything there is to know about Calistoga, its wines and its people. A great stay!

Fantastic place from which to stay and explore wine country! This property is beautiful with a ton of character, the owners are incredibly accommodating and friendly, breakfast is delicious, and you’re only a few minutes away from downtown Calistoga: lots of wine, restaurants, and shops. Highly recommended, we’ll be back for sure!

This is a perfect place to stay over the weekend. Very relaxing and enjoyable estate! Breakfast is excellent We thank Dennis for letting us pick up some figs from his tree. We had a great time.
