We stayed at Alua Calas de Mallorca expecting a 4-star experience, but it barely qualifies as a 3-star. While the views were beautiful and the Coke was real (not cheap syrupy stuff), that’s where the positives ended. Rooms & Cleanliness: The rooms were very basic and felt unfinished. In some areas of the hotel, the floors weren’t even complete—just raw concrete. Skirting boards were coming away, and our bathroom tap sprayed water everywhere when used. The shower leaked, and on our first night, we found a dark black hair in the bathroom—clearly not ours as we are both blonde! While there were a decent number of plug sockets, the room lacked tea and coffee-making facilities, which is a basic expectation. The in-room safe came at a non-refundable cost, which felt excessive. Food & Drink: Breakfast doesn’t start until 8am. With an early flight and checkout just before 7am, we couldn’t even get a coffee—not exactly hospitable. When breakfast was available, the fruit was still frozen, and most of the time only one drinks machine was in service! Most of the food throughout our stay was cold. Items regularly ran out well over an hour before service finished and were rarely replenished. When they were, it was only in half-filled bowls. Food was poorly labelled—if at all—so you often had no idea what you were eating. There was a concerning level of food cross-contamination at the buffet, which is dangerous for those with allergies. The food was so unappetising that despite not being a fussy eater, I ended up living off bread, cheese, chips, and salad. The “snacks” offered during the day were extremely limited: cold burgers, hot dogs, chips, pizza, and even mouldy salad on one occasion. There were no ice creams or sweet snack options, which would be especially disappointing for anyone travelling with children. Another issue: if you left your table briefly (even just to go to the buffet), staff would clear your plates and drinks, and often give away your table, which caused unnecessary stress during meals. All-Inclusive Confusion: The drinks system is unnecessarily complicated and frankly frustrating. On arrival, we were told we had to pay for a plastic token, which was the only way to receive a drink. You hand over your token, receive your drink, and only get the token back or another drink when you return the cup. If you lose your token, you’re out of luck; you need to buy another one. This defeats the point of the all-inclusive wristband—what’s the point of having one if it doesn’t actually give you access to drinks? To make matters worse, very few drinks were actually included in the all-inclusive package. Cocktails were all frozen/slushy-style, and once the ice machine ran out for the day (which it did often), cocktails were no longer served. Pool, Beach & Grounds: The pool area looked okay at first glance, but on closer inspection, the grounds were unkempt, with weeds everywhere. Stayed at this hotel on my EasyJet holidays package all inclusive 4 day holiday from the 26th till the 30th of June the service and experience was amazing from arriving to check out, this hotel is in such a beautiful location with spectacular views especially from room 213 which was the room I had with a spectacular sea view looking out to the Balearic sea The only issues was that The Air con in the room didn’t seem to work and that all the food choices was the same thing for lunch and dinner and just to pre warn people that the tokens for drinks don’t cover all alcoholic drinks as you also had to pay for some of your drinks which I was a bit surprised about with this hotel beeing a all inclusive hotel but apart from that the staff were so incredibly friendly I personally would absolutely recommend this hotel for families

When is an all-inclusive not an all-inclusive? 1 - when you arrive at midnight and there is NOTHING available 2 - When they cut off your wristband at check-out, even if it’s hours before your pick up 3 - When you have to pay 1€ for a drink cup even if you have your own. I am here with my son, just the two of us, are we’re four nights into a five night stay. We arrived and “greeted” by a receptionist who seemed to think our coach arriving was an inconvenience, handed a sheet of instructions and pointed in the direction of our room. As we landed at 9pm, waited two hours in the airport for our transfer (thanks EasyJet) and then had the hour+ trip in, I had expected some sort of snack to be waiting for us. But nothing at all. I am glad I at least had water with us from the UK airport we left from. The paper says that all-inclusive ends at midday checkout on your final day. Almost criminal to me! You can extend for 25€ per adult and 12.50€ per child. But that is just for the wristband, not a room. The meals in the restaurants are standard for all-inclusive, repetitive but something for everyone. Outside of the main meal times it’s chips, pizza, burgers and salad. There are a selection of sandwiches too but that’s it really. Ice pops but no ice cream which is disappointing for a five year old too. The drinks situation has really annoyed me - you have to pay 1€ for a cup. I have my own insulated cup I use as drinks stay cool for longer, but if you ask them to put a drink it in you are told ‘it’s not possible’ with all the warmth of an ice cube. I refuse to spend a penny more than I need to in an all-inclusive hotel. The loop hole - walk down to the coffee bar next to the kids club where you can serve yourself. The rooms are basic, TV doesn’t work, but the sea view is amazing! Only spoilt by the air con/kitchen vents which takes the shine off sitting on balcony to enjoy the view in the evening. The lifts - I will be having nightmares about the lifts for years! The number showing the the display has no basis of reality, it just flashes up a random number to give you some hope, before flashing up with another random number. From what I can work out, it goes to the floor in the order the button was pressed, not the next floor. So if you’re on ground floor, the person in front of you pressed 12, then you press 6, you’re going all the way to the top before coming back down. But if in between the first press and yours the person in floor 2 pressed it, you’re going there before back up to 6. Do some gym work before coming and get your calves nice and in shape! The other thing I would caution against is experiences and excursions. I tried to book some through the TUI app but it would seem from this side of the island the choices are VERY limited. I booked the Pirate Adventures diner show and it was cancelled on the same day because not enough people had booked to justify the 1.5hr coach to Magaluf. The hotel lifts are a nightmare only 1 out of 3 were working for most of the 11 days. Certainly not walking up and down from the 11th floor. AI stops at 12 when you check out cannot get food or drink without paying for it not so good when you have a later flight. Costs €25 each to keep the band Kludia and Gabriela at the tropic bar made our holiday more enjoyable always smiling and friendly. Snack bar was also good. The Bali beds are not included in AI and cost €45 a day but really good if you want a chill day . The Moka Bar is lovely too and amazing cakes. Food was pretty good although a little repetitive we did eat out a couple of nights. The hotel is clean and beds and towels changed daily. You must get tokens from the main reception to have drinks around the pool in the daytime when you return the cups they give back the tokens. You get the monies when you check out it was €1 per plastic cup no token no drink. At night the drinks are provided in glasses and no tokens are needed.

This experience was 5 stars and it included amazing staff and outstanding places to visit. There was two beaches we went to and they were both really good. I thought the food was great and the pools were very relaxing and also there was pool exercises the get you going through the day.
