Gavimar Ariel Chico Hotel and Apartments

(Sorry longish review but if you don’t read the rest of this take one thing away that THERES NO LIFT -or none that we saw or knew about-, so make sure if any mobility issues they are known as you will have to carry luggage up and down stairs and where our room was it was roughly 2 1/2 flights of stairs, which wasn’t an issue for us but could be if you had children etc). After reading some of the reviews after booking I was very apprehensive of actually going as wasn’t too sure what to be expecting, however I will say the holiday is what you make it and was pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our stay. Overall I would say this hotel is a good option as it is very central with shops around close to the beach which is basically a 2 minute walk. Staff very friendly (don’t know his name but an older man who wore a red polo top and always near restaurant was always accommodating and if he saw anyone struggling carrying plates he would right away go help them). We never had any issue with staff and found them all to be extremely helpful especially the lady who checked us in as she made sure we knew where everything was which was good. For the food I would say it’s hit or miss depending on what you like me and my friends are quite picky eaters so we always found something whether that be pasta, pizza, chips or ice cream, however if you are expecting food to be top quality this wouldn’t be the hotel but at the same time it is a 3 star so you pay for what you get. If you arrive after dinner has finished (9pm I believe) there is a snack but in the restaurant until 11:45pm I believe and it was sorta like baguette ham, cheese, salady bits. Which although isn’t dinner dinner especially after a day of travelling it does keep you full till breakfast. Personally we thought the euro for a cup was a good decision and quite often even if you don’t go give the cup back to get a new drink they will change it anyway for you especially if getting a cocktail after a soft drink (the cocktails are from a machine so not the strongest basically just tasted like a smoothie). Cant really comment on entertainment as we only went the first night that we arrived, however the entertainment seemed decent but the only thing stopped us from going the rest of nights was we felt quite uncomfortable just the fact that when at the bar it was sometimes swarmed with people who were very drunk. Now for the rooms I will say ours was nothing like the picture that we saw when booking but we were only really in the room to sleep and get ready, there were some bugs in the room on the first night when we arrived and got to the room however we never mentioned this as the next day when the cleaners got there we didn’t see anymore bugs for the rest of the stay. For the Pools we went to the bigger one on one first day and got a sunbed easily at around 11:15 so no need to rush, for the rest of the stay we used the smaller pool close to the rooms and once again we had no issue getting a sunbed

Where do i start!! ... absolutely disgusting!! .. Stayed in one bed apartment. Ants everywhere, cuttlery and utensils in kitchen so dirty. No hot water for shower. Beds rock hard. Curtains with mold on them. Never again.

Everything was great. Room was spotless, attentive and engaging entertaining staff. Hotel grounds were very well kept, gardeners and cleaners do a great job. Could have been slightly more choice of food however, we are two fussy eaters and we’re satisfied. Great location. Bar staff and drinks were really good.

Arrived 1am. Took ages to check in, too complicated, bo food available. Requested a pool view, got sent to a total different block, room 2024. If you get offered it,ask to be moved. Long walk from reception in the dark. Loads of steps to get to the front door. Room ok to be fair, apart from visible woodworm around juliet balcony door. First day were told our room didnt have a key for the safe, on departure STILL no key. Nowhere to move us to. Had to carry everything valuable everywhere with us. Room was OK but very, very dated. Maids hit and miss. Lots of sunbeds available, bar area huge but miserable kids working there. Food was irregular as in couldn't make a meal. Nothing went with anything. Decent choice tho. Salads, fruit and cheeses were nice. Weren't allowed to keep room on after 1pm even tho our transfer wasn't until 7pm. 1st time at this hotel but we won't be going back. Our 5th visit to cala d or and we've always been pleased but sadly not this time. Ate out a couple of evenings and twice for breakfast... All inclusive cocktails pre mixed. Not nice. Spirits have to be logged via tag on wrist band so not too freely available.

Wow what can I say hotel was great, good choice of food. But the best was the entertainment team they literally went above and beyond. Jose, David, Robin Claudia, and Meline was fantastic we had such a laugh with these guys and they really made the holiday fantastic, we will definitely be coming back 100%

Hotel in perfect location to shops only a short walk to centre. So many places to eat or drink.short walk to small beach.hotel staff really helpful.food was ok we always managed to find something to eat.pools lovely.only negative the bedroom are outdated but are clean.found beds comfy enough.we are looking at returning later in year.
