Domaine de la Ferrière

My wife and I stayed for two nights on our way back from the south of France. We saw the property on a booking site and thought it would be nice to stay at a chateau. What a disappointment. The property is obviously going through financial issues (unless the people running it just don’t care) as the decor and service levels are appalling. There is nothing French about the decor. It has more Indian and Asian furniture in it than anything and is sparsely furnished. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, no kettle and on arriving the first night the TV did not work. The breakfast is very basic and not worth the money. Coffee aweful. There is no service during the day so nothing to drink or eat and no service out by the pool, which in itself is disappointing after seeing the photographs. We had dinner the first night at the hotel and although the food was not bad, the service was awful. Asked three times for water and eventually had to go and get it myself. The second night we went to a local restaurant. Going for a walk around the property, which could be spectacular if it was managed correctly, was tricky as there was goose droppings everywhere. The geese roam free around the property so definitely not kid friendly. I would recommend that other travellers don’t waste their time at this establishment. Summing up: poor to no service, poor facilities, very expensive for what it is. And to top it off breakfast is extra and they charge more if you go through a booking site maki g *********** very expensive.

Bonne étape avec dîner dans un manoir 19e rénové, escalier en colimaçon style moyen-âge mais chambres modernes, propres, salle de bains fonctionnelle. Accueil chaleureux, le patron raconte les histoires du coin, ses démêlés avec le maire (c'est Clochemerle), son étang superbe, les canards et les oies sur la pelouse...

Accès des chambres par un escalier en pierre très étroit avec une corde pour se tenir, cela ressemble a une épreuve de Fort Boyard pour des gens âgés. Une odeur très forte dans la chambre à notre arrivée, très petite salle d'eau avec douche moyenâgeuse, et la vue sur un terrain mal entretenu qui est devenu le domaine des taupes. A la réception comme au petit déjeuner, vous ne trouver jamais personne. si vous n'avez pas le portable du réceptionniste, on ne répond jamais au téléphone. Pour être sincère c'est un faux 3 Etoiles, il y a vraiment mieux !
