Hotel Hacienda del Conde Melia Collection Golf & Spa – Adults Only

Said to be a SLH, but in our opinion, it's neither small (117 rooms over 8 floors) nor luxurious. A 4* golf hotel would be a better description. Our suite was great; with a hot tub on the terrace, a sitting area with tv, minibar, tea and coffee, a walk in wardrobe, large bathroom with walk-in shower, bath and twin sinks. What appeared to be air-conditioning was, in fact, heating. The hotel solarium was a very exposed rooftop. The spa pool consisted of 3 plunge areas from cold to hot but too small to swim in and the room was far too cool to lounge in. The outside pools were too cold to venture into in January. The breakfast buffet looked impressive but a very peculiar mixture of foods and a hot buffet swimming in unappetising trays. Evening meals were much the same. The fine dining restaurant with a tasting menu apparently only took one booking every fifteen minutes, so the restaurant was virtual empty and without atmosphere. Similarly, for the wine bar, a converted chapel despite the number of residents. The Italian restaurant was a little better, but the food and service were mediocre If you're staying here, consider eating in buena Vista town or at the excellent little restaurant on the coast below the golf course. The town is within n easy walking distance and there is a bus stop nearby.

We stayed at Hacienda del Conde for a week and we had a fantastic time. The hotel is located on the north of the island and the views from the room and the quietness of the surroundings are simply spectacular. We stayed in a suite sea view with whirlpool and the room was stunning. Spacious sitting room and bedroom, large bathroom and separate dressing area. A must and it is definitely worth booking a higher category accommodation. The housekeeping team (often forgotten) does an excellent job. The room was always serviced following our requests, and the cleanless of the room (and the hotel) was impressive! The buffet for breakfast and dinner offered very high quality products and it was always fresh and replenished. Local dishes were offered and it allows us to discover the gastronomy from the island! The restaurant by the pool was also excellent! Finally, the employees at the hotel are simply the best: Magdalena, Aida, Sandro and Kervin (to name a few of them) were always a delight to speak with and always willing to assist and give recommendations without being overwhelming and intrusive. Congratulations! To conclude, we loved the hotel so much, we will return in the autumn.

We went for a week of total relaxation and that is what we had. The hotel is very peaceful and quiet... The staff were friendly and attentive - we could not fault them and really appreciated every thing they did... nothing was too much trouble.. We enjoyed every meal without exception ( and we are 'foodies').... We ate mainly at the Buffet or the Italian restaurant in the evening ( the pear and burrata starter and the Tiramisu were amazing) and at the Pool Bar or Tapas at the wine bar for lunch. We have seen some negative comments on Trip Advisor about the food and we felt like they must have been at a different hotel.... our experience was definitely not negative!.... In the afternoons there was a lovely little area set up with free teas and coffee with a selection of cakes/biscuits.... A cup of tea, a piece of cake and sit on the terrace with a book... perfect. The hotel was spotlessly clean inside and out. So many different areas to sit and enjoy the sun....lots of cushions etc, and plenty of extra large pool towels. At no point did it feel crowded. The pool was not overly warm, but was a pleasure to swim in, which I did every day. I also used the gym every day..... small, but light and airy - with drinks and snacks on the side for users.....the equipment was all in working order.... totally adequate for 'holiday fitness sessions'...I was often the only one in there in the morning, though I think it may have got busier later in the day. There was one tiny blip in that our car transfer to the airport going home did not turn up. Not the fault go the hotel at all and the reception staff quickly sorted out an alternative and we were able to catch our flight......thank you! We plan to return next year.. (Wishing I was back there now)

Having read some of the poor reviews before coming to the hotel, we were slightly apprehensive. However our experience was very different. The hotel has been welcoming and relaxing from check in to departure. All of the staff have been friendly and obliging- they take great pride in the hotel and in ensuring that guests have the best experience. They are like a family and as such make the atmosphere relaxing. We dined in all of the restaurants and found the food to be of a high standard. The buffet restaurant was impressive- a wide selection of food cooked fresh in the hotel kitchen. The dishes were different every day and quickly replenished. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation- we will definitely return.

This tries hard to be a 5 star hotel, but it woefully misses. All the small things that make a 5 star hotel are not only non-operational, there is really no move to fix them, even when brought to their attention. First of all- this hotel is spread out all over the place- so definitely not for anyone who has even the slightest physical impediment. Second, do not come here if you even are thinking you may want to use their gym. With only one treadmill, and one recumbent bike, which was broken the entire time I was there, this barely passes as a gym. Third, even water or ice is a hassle-- and a CHARGE! Not only are there no ice machines, but the water is not drinkable. And so they charge for it. Sometimes they give you a couple of bottles of mineral water in the room- sometimes not. Additional charge for water at dinner!!!!! Bush league. A lot of broken doors-- one day one door is broken, the next day another one as well. When you check in they offer a drink- but only of two or three choices. I asked for a Coke, and you would have thought I asked for the moon. Wine they would have given me- not Coke. Massage was not great -never asked whether the pressure was right, and when I asked for it to be harder, there was no change. Clearly my Spanish wasn't good enough, and she didn't understand English. All in all- many little things- nothing over the top like faulty toilet or something- just not first class, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

In the past I have often used this hotel with groups of golfers, I am a golf professional and Tour Operator. The trips have always been a great success and I have posted reviews before highlighting this. In January I stayed here for 2 weeks privately with my wife. The hotels just keeps getting better. Food excellent, rooms very large and luxurious and most of all trained, professional and very friendly staff!
