Old Castle Farm Guest House

Cannot fault the hospitality of this B&B. A very warm welcome from the owner who showed us to our room (the same one we stayed in previously). The room was very spacious with a large en-suite bathroom with some shower gels, shampoos, make up wipes & even some cotton wool balls. I found the bed was a little uncomfortable but that is only a personal opinion (never the same as your own bed). Wi-Fi passwords are located in the visitors book & a large screen TV in room. There are also tea & coffee making facilities available & a hairdryer. The use of the dryer is a little difficult as the mirror is not near the socket where you have to plug it in. This could be easily remedied by moving the mirror across a little. The breakfast was ok, not necessarily very hot but the request for well done eggs & sausages were happily fulfilled & toast replenished upon request too. Plenty of cereals, porridge & yoghurts were available. There are however some negatives. Unfortunately from a cleaning perspective! I made the fatal mistake of lifting the shower trap to remove my hair after washing it as I don’t like other people having to do this. This was a major error as it looked like this hadn’t been done in I don’t know how long! There is quite a bit of clutter (piled up toys) in the corner of the dining room & the dining room was a little cold due to the single glazing.

Guest House is located on the road from Merthyr to Brecon and is about 3/4 mile from the town centre, An easy 20 min walk takes you past a) nice fish & chip shop b) an ice cream parlour. Free Car parking is available on the street but also behind the hotel by driving around the back streets. Our room was up two flights of stairs and in a pleasant attic conversion. Ensuite washing room, WC and shower. The room had twin beds, (our opinion of the beds was mixed). In the dining room, Breakfast was served quickly and was very good. Many types of cereal and yogurts were also available.

Absolutely amazing place to stay, if you ever are in brecon you have to stay here, the owners are absolutely lovely and the service we received was phenomenal i have never been treated so well during a stay. They have a garden, breakfast area, spacious rooms, amazing owners, and the place was spotless. I can't recommend this place enough to anyone staying in brecon it is also close to town which was very handy for us. We stayed in a family room, which was spacious and spotless. we also had some complimentary shower gel, a bar of soap, and a shampoo and conditioner, which was left in our room ready for us to arrive, we got escorted to our room and asked about a time we would like to go for breakfast. We had breakfast at 8.50am there was 3 or 4 people down there very friendly fellow customers and the 2 ladys were lovely at breakfast too, we ordered 2 welsh breakfasts which was lovely with great produce, it was very quick service and the food was served shortly after. Definitely less than 5 minutes. Thankyou so much old castle farm house for being amazing, we will definitely be back ♥️
