Opero was super festively decorated for the season with welcome drink given (see pics). Closely located to midvalley south key (5mins walking distance, they also provide a free shuttle bus service on the hour from 12-8pm). Be sure to book early as the bus can only seat ~15 and you’ll be deferred to the next ride if full. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel provided the usual amenities (bedroom slippers/ toothbrush etc). Liked that there was an iron and hair dryer but the dryer was attached in the toilet (not portable)!! However, complaints about the toilet as there's only a rain shower and no shower head. Also, even when at max volume and heat, water was not strong/hot enough and the shower curtain was very clearly rusty!! 😭 (refer pic). The rust doesnt come out with the water on but the dirt from the shower curtain peels off as you are showering which was gross. Further, the toilet seat was dirty with stains.

My first trip at St Giles Southkey. I was greeted with smile when I check in. The service is wonderful nothing much to complain about. The room is clean and tidy, and they even surprised me with a cake on my Wedding Anniversary. Room was nicely decorated with balloons , such a warm welcome. Thank you 😊 🙏 💓 St Giles is just situated at Mid Valley Shopping Mall, so is very convenient if you want to stay at the same location for shopping and food. Breakfast wise, huge selection. I love their Nasi Lemak with Ayam Rendang. Overall, a good stay at St Giles Southkey, definitely coming back again.

I had a really pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was exactly what I expected – clean, modern, and spacious with a super comfy bed and all the essentials. The lighting and decor gave it a cozy, upscale feel, and the price was definitely affordable for what you get. One of the best things about this place is the location. There are plenty of shopping options, massage places, and restaurants just a short walk away, so it’s really convenient if you want to explore without going too far. I especially loved the Monday night market right outside the hotel – such a fun and lively scene with tons of street food and local goodies to check out. Overall, great value for the money and a perfect spot for a relaxing yet fun getaway. Would definitely stay again!

A Fantastic Stay at Holiday Inn Johor Bahru City Centre! I recently had the pleasure of staying at Holiday Inn JBCC, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Location: The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Johor Bahru, right above Komtar JBCC Mall and within walking distance to City Square Mall and the immigration checkpoint to Singapore. This made it incredibly easy to explore the city and enjoy shopping, dining, and entertainment options nearby. Rooms & Comfort: The rooms were modern, clean, and well-maintained. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. I particularly loved the large windows with a stunning city view, which added to the overall ambiance. The in-room amenities, such as a smart TV, coffee-making facilities, and a spacious bathroom, were thoughtful touches that enhanced the stay. Service & Hospitality: The staff at Holiday Inn JBCC were outstanding—friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile. From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth and efficient. Special mention to the front desk and housekeeping teams for their warm hospitality and attention to detail. Dining Experience: The hotel’s restaurant served a fantastic breakfast buffet with a variety of local and international options. The quality of food was excellent, and the dining area was spacious and well-lit. The rooftop bar was another highlight, offering a great place to unwind with a drink while enjoying panoramic views of Johor Bahru. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the toilet was spacious with complete amenities. However, the service was very disappointing. Room 808 had a strong smoking smell, and the floor manager just sprayed perfume to cover it but the smoking smell is still there. When I requested a room change, the customer service staff was extremely rude, telling me to call back at 9 PM because it was their break-fast time and i should respect. They were also reluctant and made it seem troublesome to change room. Propose Hotel management to arrange non muslim staff to handle calls during break fast timing in future, as Foreigners might not comprehend the situation. Another major issue was the parking system. It is confusing for first-time visitors, as hotel guests need to park at level B2 and validate their Touch ’n Go card for free parking. During dinner hours, the queue for validation was ridiculously long, with only one counter available. We had to wait in a line with more than 10 people ahead of us, which was frustrating, We are rushing for dinner, hence, we paid parking cost RM27 for just 3–4 hours, which is unreasonable. The hotel staff, especially the phone helpline team, were rude and impatient. Calls took a long time to be answered, possibly due to staff shortages during the fasting month and Hari Raya eve holiday season. Due to the rude staff and poor service, I will not stay at this hotel again.

Conveniently located just right opposite KSL mall, about 5-10 mins drive from CIQ. Check in was fast, requested for a high floor, near lift(as my mum had ankle issues) and non-smoking floor which was fulfilled by the front desk. View from the room was great. Room was quite spacious. Bathroom as well. All the necessary items were provided. They even had a mini magnifying mirror at the side in the bathroom for makeup purposes which I think was very user friendly for me especially when I’m putting my contact lenses. Hotel breakfast buffet had quite a variety of western and local food mixed, view was also very good. On 6th floor is a massage parlour (Thai odyssey) that has a 20% discount of massages for hotel guests only.

All good just that suite room is kinda small in size, but the living room is very spacious and toilet bowl has no leg space because the glass door for shower room is exactly next to the toilet bowl. maybe can make room bigger and reduce the size of living room and definitely leg space at toilet bowl area needs to be enlarged or replanned. The buffet spread was super delicious and variety of spread. Each n every one of the staff at different department was absolutely friendly, helpful and well mannered! Thumbs up to all and the excellent service provided.

The hotel is strategically located between Jalan Trus and Jalan Wong Ah Fook, prime location if you were to visit JBCC and City Square. It is also close to take the bus to Singapore. The hotel room is of decent size, filled with wooden furniture. Too much carpentry, furniture and these designs are outdated and non sustainable imho. Bathroom size is good with good Roca fittings, however, more detailed attentions could be given to the water pressure and floor trap flow speed. The tiles and bathroom furniture again is old design despite the hotel is relatively new (completed in 2017/2018). The bed is huge. The only good part is the complimentary executive lounge served with beer, food and beverages. The wine selection however is one of the worst in 5-star hotels, it would be better to do without the wine and put the money into better food/fruits. The hotel is hardware driven and I felt there are a lot more that can be done apartment cleaning the room and wash the toilet to make it a truly 5-star hotel. Based on my experience, it's at best a 4-star hotel at 5-star price.

I’m surprised to find Fives Hotel is beyond my expectations. First time staying at Fives hotel and it has so much more to praise. Firstly, location is good as it is located opposite of Komtar shopping centre. You can cross the road from Komtar shopping centre by a traffic light. Secondly, safety is excellent as there is a security guard manning the entrance. You need access card to take the lift to access your room. There is a convenient store just right at the side of the hotel lobby. We stayed in a family room with 1 queen bed and 2 single beds. Breakfast is sufficient to fill your stomach. All in all, it is a relatively good hotel for its pricing as jt includes breakfast. Lobby smells good. I would strongly recommend all to give Five a try. I’ve stayed at most hotels near CIQ area, this is better that the hotel next to Fives. 😊

Reasonable price for our stay. Our room could see the still-in-progress rail connection between Singapore and Johore. The Ramadan buffet dinner we joined was very good. Much variety of food choices. I think there was live music but we were seated where we could not see but only hear. The day we came on a Causeway Link bus T21 from JB Central - though only 3 stops away, but the road was jammed with traffic. So it took a while for us to arrive at the Zon stop ( Zon is a duty free shopping area mall where Berjaya Waterfront Hotel is next to it). You can also come this area to take ferry to places like Batam, ....
