Carley Farmhouse was originally built in 1837. We have designed the home to welcome multigenerational families, infants and toddlers, and beloved pets.When you arrive to the exquisite Greek Revival home on 11 acres of naturalized farmland, you'll first notice the place. We're located just a bit above Lake Sadawga on a carefully maintained country road. You'll see the old Schoolhouse on the corner, willow trees along the stream, and forests of maple, hemlock, and poplar. The outdoors are some of our favorite spaces for gathering. You can sit around the simple fieldstone firepit in the front yard, or have coffee on the front porch. The hummingbirds own the front porch, be careful! You can study up on tree ID with our handy field guide. If you watch closely, you can see ducks in the little pond, and deer, turkey, groundhogs, and porcupines in the meadow. The 3-season sunroom is our honorary outdoor hangout from spring through fall - hard to say how magical it is there.Inside, we created a big art and play space for young children. We supply a bunch of arts supplies to inspire young ones’ creativity - an easel, watercolors, tempera paints, chalk, pencils, markers, chunky brushes for small hands, pastels, and various sorts of paper. There's also heirloom-quality solid maple building blocks, Magna-Tiles, stuffies, play-dough, and coloring books.It might sound funny, but we get some of the best sleep of our life there. Each bedroom has a different view. The memory foam mattresses are dressed with quilted mattress toppers, spa-quality linens, real duck down duvets, and blankets (choose your favorite). The queen bedroom has a high-end wood crib, a collection of baby blankets, and blackout curtains. You can wake up to bird song and frog calls from the pond.The kitchen is humble, no dishwasher, electric coil stove. But we are avid cooks and have fully equipped it. We use the Le Creuset dutch oven almost every day, and keep a pretty solid spice collection there, along with maple syrup made by a neighbor and some wicked spicy homemade chili crisp.Folks probably spend the most time in the downstairs living room, if not playing with kids then puzzling, reading, tending the fire beneath the gorgeous hand-carved antique mantle, or playing guitar. The upstairs living room has a high-end TV and soundbar and complimentary streaming, so you can keep up with any and all shows.If you've read this far, hopefully you feel this is the home for you. Welcoming people brings us delight and we treasure what you write in the guestbook and the artworks you leave behind.---The whole house and 11 acre grounds are for you.Please do not enter the basement. Please don't swim in the retaining pond in the back yard.Rural Whitingham has limited cell service. Download offline maps before going out! Wilmington, a 13-minute drive north, has cell reception.If you will build a fire, pick up kindling at a hardware or general store.Semi-seasoned firewood is available on the property for a small fee.In the rainy seasons, the lawn gets wet. Bring waterproof boots!In the warm season, our landscaper occasionally come to the property to mow.The home can host up to 8 people, but we find 4-5 adults is the sweet spot. Our pricing has a small extra guest fee, per person per night, for the 6th and above guest.The downstairs living room has a sleeper sofa with queen mattress. Two twin mattresses and folding bedframes are available to guests self-serve in our storage room.Our home lovingly welcomes cats and dogs! Though we clean exactingly between each reservation, we recommend to bring allergy medications if someone in your party has pet allergies!Please use caution if entering the garage. Landscaping tools and materials are stored there. The garage is not suitable for children and pets.We have two security cameras on the property. Welcome to Pi π aka Lakefront Loft. A one of a kind custom built 34 foot high raised container home overlooking a beautiful southern VT lake with direct lakefront property with your own private dock. Our spacious home custom designed and built with 8 shipping containers boasts every amenity you want. 3 master bedrooms designed with amazing panoramic views. Bedroom 1 we've nicknamed the glass bedroom with three sides floor to ceiling total glass windows. Bedroom 2 has two large floor to ceiling windows and a 55 inch tv. Bedroom 3 is accessed by the custom made cherry wood spiral staircase. This bedroom has led multi-color changing lights in the ceiling and a sliding glass door to your own private balcony. Our kitchen is fully equipped with western sunset views. This full kitchen with an 18 foot counter has state of the art appliances, a direct inline Keurig coffee maker (never have to fill the water again!) All utensils including pots, pans, etc., for those big family dinners or late morning breakfasts. Have your meals together on our very cool dining room table made from a shipping container door! Don’t want to eat in the kitchen? Well there are three deck levels allowing for all kinds of dining experiences including a rooftop deck with propane firepit. The Living Room is a perfect space with a 65 inch FRAME TV and 54 inch built in driftwood log gas fireplace operated by remote control. This perfect space can double by opening the huge accordion style glass doors to your enormous deck space with its own propane firepit. Perfect for drinks, games, and conversation. The house is well stocked with bedding, linens, and includes a washer and dryer. Your comfort is of utmost importance. There is radiant heated flooring as well as mini split units providing AC in every living space.There are extensive grounds outside the house that include three deck levels ( each with direct piped in propane 40 inch lava rock firepits, hot tub (with heated deck mats in the winter), custom-built sauna and more. Just steps away is Sadawga Lake, where you can fish, kayak, hike, ice skate, or sit near the waterfall and enjoy the sun. Less than a mile away is the Harriman Reservoir southern boat launch. There are so many nearby attractions, including skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling (VAST trail down the street), hiking - not to mention numerous shops, restaurants, and breweries. We own the local general store and Taproom (bar/restaurant) with live music every weekend, pool table, skeeball and shuffleboard with a cool automotive theme throughout. Just 4 miles down the street. AND we deliver groceries, prepared meals and our famous 20 inch New Haven style pizza.
