Das Ebertor - Hotel & Hostel

Lovely hotel. Very big. Gorgeous views of the river and a pleasant walk from the hotel. Restaurant has lovely beers. Room has lots of sockets, clean and pleasant. Staff were helpful and english speaking. BEer garden was closed when we were there but walked through it. It would be a lovely place to relax on a hot day Downsides: paid for parking, slow internet , uninspiring breakfast.

I visited as part of a coach trip from Norfolk, UK for Christmas and had the best time. The hotel is spotless, with exceptional staff (all of them), a conscientious and witty manager and amazing food. We were a large party and there were hiccups - but hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure things were as perfect for us all as possible. Beds were so comfy and all dietary requirements were well catered for. A brilliant experience. Despite everything being amazing - the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff made my trip. Thank you.

I booked the "hostel" option at Das Ebertor since I wanted to stay along the Rhine and Boppard offers transit passes to visitors. The hostel is just a room with bunks, not a true hostel with amenities. There is no kitchen or social area (though the hotel has restaurants). The room was nice and had a bathroom attached. There was a view of the courtyard. Everything was clean. First night, there were 3 other travelers, 2 the second night and I had the room to myself on the last night. I skipped the paid breakfast and didn't try the various restaurants. It was too early in the year for the outdoor beer garden. The front desk staff seemed new and not entirely familiar with hotel amenities and the area but they did help me book a bicycle (you can store it overnight in the garage). It was great to be so near the train station. There is a supermarket on the other side of the station. You're right on the river and it's about a 10 minute walk to old town.

We booked a stay for the night, but when we arrived at the hostel our beds weren’t available. The beds had been given away to other guests. After a long search they were able to find a single bed we could share. They apologised and said we could receive some money back. We never got this money back though. Terrible experience! Avoid this place if you want a relaxed evening to continue touring the next day.

I regretfully have to share my dreadful experience at this hotel. From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I had made a terrible choice. The lobby was outdated and shabby, setting the tone for the rest of my stay. The room was a disaster. It was as if they hadn't been renovated in decades. The furnishings were worn and tattered, the carpet was stained, and the bathroom had a musty odor that wouldn't go away. It was clear that cleanliness was not a priority here, as I found hair in the sheets and mold in the corners. The staff were far from accommodating. They were indifferent to my complaints and seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than assisting guests. When I asked for help with my luggage, I was met with a half-hearted effort. The noise level in the hotel was intolerable. Thin walls and rowdy guests made it impossible to get a good night's sleep. It felt like I was sharing a room with the entire hotel. The breakfast they provided was an absolute joke. Stale pastries and watery coffee were the only options available. It was a disappointing start to each day of my stay. In summary, my stay at this hotel was a nightmare. It was a grim reminder of how important it is to thoroughly research and read reviews before booking accommodation. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Not 4 star, but comfortable beds, great shower. Everything sparkling clean. Good breakfast too. Definitely far better value than the very expensive hotels nearer the centre! Not too far from the old town and shops. Parking included which makes life much easier. Helpful staff, too.
