Great food served in a lovely environment with brilliant views. Went for a Sunday lunch, it was excellent, I couldn’t finish it and I have a healthy appetite. We will be going back to explore the area, stay in the hotel and eat more of there food.

Beautiful room, lovely ambiance in the hotel and the food was gorgeous! The breakfast was fantastic and the hotel gardens were scenic. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back, reasonably priced, thank you for a lovely stay we can’t wait to return.

We had an excellent night's stay, with a good dinner and good bed in a well appointed room with plenty of space. It is a comfortable old hotel with friendly and helpful staff, and has modern facilities while keeping a charming old world atmosphere. Dinner was served in a cosy dining room, one of three, I think - it was well presented - there was obviously an able chef in charge. Breakfast likewise was very good, with a lot of choice.

Wonderful stay. This time we stayed in The Elephant Gatehouse as opposed to the main hotel. The Gatehouse has a shared entrance porch, there are heavy fire doors (could be our age!) which tend to bang shut and the lounge area is upstairs; but these are very minor points, and all this aside, this truly did not spoil our stay we really did enjoy having our own space together, the GH is very comfortable, lovely views from our bedroom across the roof tops, fantastic shower, a dedicated car parking space (very useful!) and a little garden. We came to visit my Mum who lives locally and The Castle is one of her favourite places and we had two excellent evening meals all together. The salmon gin infused and crème fraiche starter was truly delicious! I think what makes this place so very special are the staff, they are all so cheerful, helpful and welcoming. We come to visit my Mum every two months and staying at The Castle is always a pleasure and we have moved our future bookings to The Gatehouse as we enjoyed it so much.

Attended for a recent overnight stay . Staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout . The building has lots of character and free onsite parking . Room was spacious and bathroom was a really good size . Breakfast had a really good choice and was yummy . Would stay again .

A great hotel with bags of character. The room we had for 3 nights was spacious and very comfortable and well heated. The restaurant offers a good choice of dishes and the Sunday roast really hit the spot after an early morning hike. The wines we chose were excellent both in taste and value. It’s the staff who made this a really five star stay for us - couldn’t fault them.

We enjoyed our third visit to this quirky old hotel in a very quaint little town. Very friendly staff, a good pint for my husband, good food for dinner and breakfast and a comfortable bed with a pleasant country view. Hope to stay longer sometime.

This is a fantastic hotel in the enchanting Shropshire town of Bishop’s Castle. The service in the hotel is outstanding. The staff are totally committed group doing everything to serve the guests and maintain excellent standards. The food is outstanding. And the interior of the hotel is a joy to behold - cosy panelled areas in the bar and a beautiful 17th century dining room. The town of Bishop’s Castle is a pure delight. Charming old streets and alleyways. Local independent shops only - and top quality at that. And delightful cafes and tea rooms. One would struggle to think of a more wonderful place to spend a couple of days.
