Elphinstone Hotel

Absolutely fantastic!!!! We stayed at the Elphinstone for 1 night during a Lands End to John o Groats cycle ride for Charity. We arrived late and the Chef had already left for the evening. The Bar staff jumped to our rescue and 30 minutes later we all eating a superb steak pie and chips. The pub, service and rooms were all fantastic. I would highly recommend visiting or staying at the Elphinstone if you are in the Biggar area.

What a super hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful from the minute we arrived. The public area was very comfortable and the bedroom even more so. It was clean and pleasantly appointed. The en suite was very up to date, bright and roomy. The meals, both evening meal and breakfast were superb; giving an extensive choice of freshly prepared local produce. It was our first visit but it certainly will not be our last. Thank you Michael and all the staff.

Stayed here the 21/7/24 as was attending a wedding at Cornhill castle 22/7/24 Firstly staff were so lovely pre order system for breakfast was good and worked fine breakfast was lovely ,lovely produce very tasty The rooms are dated but they are clean lovely crisp white bedding , bed was very comfortable tea and coffee facilities Bathroom was clean but small , definitely need to improve these as room 6 and my sisters room 5 both had very mouldy sealant around the bath and it wouldn’t take much to sort it We also had issue with noisy pipe work but this is a very old building We paid £102 for a night I wouldn’t pay anymore than this I would stay again

This hotel is a trip back to the 80s. Think British Rail in style and decor. It's reasonably priced, clean and comfortable, however my room was very dated with an anaemic shower, due only to the handset which would cost £15 to replace and "my first mastic attempt". The kettle had to be placed on the floor for the plug to reach the socket. The staff however excellent and I had a great night's sleep. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location in the centre of Biggar. Room was adequate with all basic needs, however we did have a problem with the shower. This was reported and the lovely member of staff apologised profusely and discounted our bill, which was unnecessary. We eat in the restaurant, the food was fantastic. Breakfast was beautifully served and all products fresh and local. The meat wS exceptional. Good parking out on the front and a very welcoming environment.

The staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was clean and the bed very comfy! The lobby area is nice to take a rest. Breakfast was included and delicious. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
