Estival Torrequebrada

Hotel que siempre había sido un referente en Benalmadena, la comida, ha bajado en calidad y variedad, adaptándose a los clientes extranjeros, franceses, ingleses, etc. al parecer son los que mandan, o mejor dicho, don dinero manda. Muy triste ver como por recepción se pasean incluso hacen su check-in, sin camisetas, descalzos, y que nadie les llame la atención, una pena. El personal en general, muy amable, pero las normas son las que son y permisividad total ante todas estas cosas. Todo lo expuesto, y algunas situaciones más, respecto a la libertad de los clientes extranjeros que son el 95%, hacen que este gran Hotel, que fue en su momento, vaya bajando de categoría. No sé, si me explico, el disfrute, el pasarlo bien, tanto extranjeros y no extranjeros, no está reñido con unas normas básicas, que bajo mi opinión, debería imponer el hotel por el bienestar de todos los clientes y para recuperar la categoría del Hotel Estival Torrequebrada.

So I would like to start from saying that this wasn’t my first visit to hotel Torrequebrada. I have been there two years ago and I was very happy back then. I stayed this time for two weeks (April). First we were put to a room with missing door to the toilet. I have complained saying we had black mould in the bathroom and missing door to the toilet and the phone wasn’t working. I have been told by the receptionist to leave it with them, they would look into things. On the next day nothing happened so i complained to jet2 and they moved us immediately to a different room. We got toilet door but even more black mould there. Showers were also covered in black mould. Clumps of dust in the room. Many times we were served drinks in dirty cups (with something red sticked to the inside of the cup or old dirty lemons also sticked to inside (my eyes aren’t the best so I only noticed it after drinking it, so thank you, it was disgusting). Once my daughter was served with Coca Cola and it tasted like alcohol, she spat it out immediately (she’s 10) I tasted it and it was alcoholic, it tasted like they haven’t cleaned the cups before!). Food repetitive and cold, we ended up not joining the meal times most of the time (we were all inclusive) to go eat out as we would go in to the buffet and find nothing good to eat. Night shows non existent (last time we were there they had a different show every single night) this time they had two things going on and also everything was repetitive. Reception staff were mostly not very nice, not rude but not pleasant to deal with either. Inside pool water was freezing, I saw people literally struggling to go in, it was that cold, you had to be keep moving to not feel freezing (I actually got a cold from it and ended up taking meds most of the stay and did not go back to the inside pool either). Most of the guests were French and I have noticed they would get different, better treatment than others. I enjoyed my time OUTSIDE of the hotel but I would never ever come back again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and I feel let down.

Large hotel with super friendly staff. We went with Jet2. We thought the food was excellent overall. Not everything to everyone’s tastes but so much choice you could always find something nice. We were in room 0429 which faced west so we could see the lovely sunsets. Nice clean room and bathroom with a spacious balcony. The building work did not affect our stay at all. We didn’t use the pools as it was a bit cold and the inside pool was busy. The all inclusive deal was excellent - we’re not big drinkers but nevertheless it was a great bonus. The wine was a bit rustic but great gin and tonics. The complimentary crisps or nuts were a great touch. We went to Malaga on the bus. Came back by train. Bus took 1hr 40mins and was around €1.75 each. It goes from outside the hotel. Train took 35 minutes and cost around €3.50 each. Definitely recommend the train - a cab from the hotel to the station was €7. We took a Jet2 recommended excursion to Nerja and Frigiliana. It took forever to pick up all the people…lots of stops where 2 or 3 people got on. It was a real drag. We also had four nationalities on the coach so the guide was constantly talking. Whilst we enjoyed the places it was a long day and we’d recommend you check the details of any excursions i.e. number of pickup stops before booking anything. We had a family vote and all decided we would come back to this hotel. Great value for money and a great atmosphere.
