Pemuteran is a must do for anyone who is interested in seeing the quieter side of Bali, and if course if you love snorkelling or diving. We spent 4 happy days there. We took a cab from Kuta cost us $100 NZD or 1 million rupees. We tipped the guy an extra $30 as it was a 5.5 hour trip incl lunch and sight stops (via Bedugul lake). He had to spin round and go straight back. Our return trip we went to Ubud via Kintamani (stunning lunch views on a clear day, can be clouded out easily but). Kintamani added an hour. TIRTA SARI As somewhat seasoned travellers, we decided not to book a flashy hotel right on the beach, and instead just took ourselves to the flash hotel pools to hang out (buy a drink or two and they don't mind at all). So staying at Tirta sari instead saved us $$. The staff were amazing, always service with a smile. Air con worked fine. Showers were basic. Mozzy nets on beds. Lovely pool with bar, we spent ages in it. I definitely rate Tirta Sari , it suited us to a tee. I stored my insulin in the communal fridge. Breakfast was excellent and you could buy crazy cheap extras. They had many healthy cats, that were no bother, and looked very well loved and cared for. The mainly family operation were so lovely and safe and honest. On day 3 I booked 2 menjangan dives at 130NZD and wife and two kids snorkelling at 60NZD each. We booked this directly at Tirta sari after some chats with operators on the beach, and Tirta was cheaper than any of those quotes. We had our own boat to just us with a dive guide , snorkel guide and a captain! Plus their gear was in great condition. Packed basic lunch on the island was included which we ate at around 11, before my second dive. Crazy huge coral fans. Kids saw huge turtle. My guide found me lots of small rare fish. Massages at Tirta were like $11NZD an hour and really good. Next door is the turtle hatchery/rescue operation (Reef seen) owned by Aussie Chris. $4NZD for a week long entry any time. $10NZD donation to release a baby turtle which you can do until June I think. PEMUTERAN....... The steep rocky hill backdrop is breathtaking. There is hiking, fishing, snorkelling and diving all easily accessible. As well as the compulsory lazing around and cold drinks. We did lots of hanging out at Amertha villas pool just down the alleyway. And moreso at TAMAN Sari pool (TAMAN Sari rather than Tirta sari). Both beachfront lovely pool areas and good menus. The snorkelling right off the beach is top notch. Large coral area right out from the alleyway to the beach (veer right once in the water, and swim out to the end of the reef, eyeball it on Google maps. The right side of the reef is dead ish from boat parking). The pontoon out from TAMAN Sari has a fantastic coral restoration project which is worth a few hours snorkelling. The northwest of the beach has a good reef, you can access it from TAMAN Sari end, and return to where you started, or for the more interpid walk up the beach 800m to Milos re
