AAReally nice place, but as for most hotels, you cannot expect the staff to speak English (not a problem for me, but if you don't speak any Chinese be prepared). Location is great as it is around 2 minutes walk from 南大街/South Street and all the main museums and courtyards. The owners were very friendly and helpful, making time to explain all the places to see and were to eat. They can even help with good discounts, e.g. for the historical-themed performance '又见平遥'/Encore Pingyao as well as for restaurants.
The hotel is in a beautiful traditional courtyard, very quiet area so you will sleep well at night. The room has traditional furniture, adding to the atmosphere, and while small (but good value for the price) was comfortable. The bed is a so-called 'kang' with heating - it was so comfortable in the cold winter that it was hard to get out of bed in the morning! Part of the floor has heating too. The cleanliness is good too. I would really recommend this place, very good atmosphere and with everything you need to be comfortable.

WWy JoonBeautiful hotel right in the center of Pingyao Ancient City, a few steps away from the northern end of the famed Ming & Qing Street. Easy to locate and the lady in the reception is friendly and helpful. The public areas are clean and well tended to and needless to say very instagramable. If you had visited the Wang or Qiao family compound, this hotel will let you experience living in one of those courtyard chambers. The room combines old and modern touches with a modern toilet and comfortable old styled bed. Strong heating and a strong hot shower ensures you feel comfortable during the colder months. Great feeling that your hotel is right in the middle of the ancient city after tiring day of walking. The complimentary transfer to the train station and vinegar gift upon check out is a nice touch. You won't regret staying here.

GGuest UserThe owner of the B&B is very, very nice! When I arrived, he received me very warmly, gave me water, helped me plan the route to the scenic spots, recommended restaurants, and gave me coupons. I also bought cheaper tickets for ”See Pingyao Again” through the owner. I wanted to go to Wang's Courtyard and arranged a car. The owner has always been very caring, really considerate, and a very sincere person!
The courtyard environment is very beautiful and unique. I took a lot of photos, which are very good. The room is clean and hygienic, with everything it should have, and it is very quiet. The location of the B&B is very close to the scenic spots, and it can be walked for a few minutes.
Originally planned to stay only one night, but the overall experience was so good that I decided to stay another night. Because of special reasons, I upgraded my room on the first night.
I strongly recommend everyone to come to Pingyao to experience the enthusiasm of Shanxi, and I will definitely come again if I have the chance in the future!

RRinMMReally love the hotel’s a**osphere. It is cool both scenery and weather. There aren’t much noice and people around the hotel, a little walk and you will reach some of the tourist’s attraction. Some employees can speak english or if not, wechat is the best help. They also booked taxi and drop us off by the taxi, the service was wonderful. Will stay here again if there’s a chance of visiting.

GGuest UserRed lantern Inn gives the best service among all the hotels I’d stayed so far in China. The owner and his wife picked me up from the Train station 20 min away. The location is superb, inside the old city and located just 5 min walk from the North Gate. The Mansion is so beautiful and well kept for hundreds years old building unless you like everything new or modern.
The best part is Xiao Lei, the sweet and polite inn keeper who’s extremely helpful although we had to use Google translator to communicate. He goes all out of his ways to do anything to make your stay comfortable and your visit enjoyable. He cannot explain how to but the ticket for the Old city, so he walks with me to the office. He also drives an electric truck to deliver my luggages to the north gate and call the taxi for me to the airport.
I’ll definitely come back to stay here if I come visit Pingyaogucheng again. I completely recommend this inn to everyone.

SSaucyIf you want to explore the ancient town of Pingyao, then this hotel is fantastic.
It's 15mins away from the high speed railway. They pick up and drop out off outside the city.
With the covid regulations in place, the hotel supported me through the process and helped me gain entry into the city. I was then collected and driven to the hotel.
Check-in was smooth and the lady helped me to book tickets for the Pingyao theatre show at the same time.
I received a free upgrade from a double room to a suite.
All in all, a fantastic holiday, and a great experience.

EEduardo J. RamosLovely hotel right in the heart of the walled city. Be aware entrance is trough a hairdresser. Spacious and modern rooms, very clean and traditional.
Before you visit be advised, taxis cannot enter walled town therefore cannot reach the hotel. Ask taxi driver to drop you off at the East gate of the walls and from there take the golf cart like vehicles (only taxi service allowed within the walled area) to reach the hotel. If you speak mandarin you may be able to get the service for free from the hotel, couldn't get it before check in but they kindly drove me to the East Gate for free when I left. Closest gate to the hotel is the South but has no vehicular access, if carrying luggage, always use East Gate.
