The Tranquilo Lodge

Our stay in Costa Rica was absolutely magical! The views were breathtaking—every morning felt like waking up in paradise. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home, even accommodating my limited dietary needs with such thoughtfulness and care. We stayed in the honeymoon suite, which was a perfect choice for a romantic getaway. The room was luxurious, and the attention to detail was outstanding. Our bed was remade twice a day and turned down each evening with a small candy left for us, which was an incredibly sweet touch. One thing to note is that after arriving at the international airport, you need to take a smaller plane to reach the area. We were slightly unaware of this at first, but with a little planning, it’s perfectly fine. The lodge takes care of everything—they pick you up at the smaller airport right away and take you straight to the property. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink and snack, which was such a lovely and thoughtful way to start our stay. The staff were all so kind and attentive. They were always on time and made everything seamless, from escorting us to our excursions to checking in daily to ensure our experience was exactly as we wanted. Having someone guide or accompany us to each activity added such a personal touch to the trip. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations. We felt so well cared for and genuinely appreciated. I would highly recommend this place to couples!

The gorgeous panoramic view of the bay was one of the highlights; we stayed in the Panoramic Villa and honestly could have happily spent the whole five-day stay there, listening to the buzz of the rainforest waking up in the morning, and watching the toucans and scarlet macaws and green parrots and butterflies zipping and diving around the balcony. The owners, Sebastien & Christophe, were both seamlessly professional -- they obviously care very much about every detail -- and warm and unforgettable. We really enjoyed talking to them. Likewise, we always looked forward to seeing Gonzalo (who makes heavenly fresh fruit juices by request). It was wonderful to have everything arranged, including the meals and tours. When we had to leave but wanted to take a slower boat-ride back to Sierpe instead of a fast boat, they arranged for a boat that took us on a leisurely tour of the mangroves, where we saw a sloth and crocodile and countless birds. It ended up being one of the most fun parts of the trip! I haven't even mentioned the details of the room that made it so relaxing and delightful, including the rain shower and heavenly-smelling shampoos, body wash and insect repellant. They really thought of everything.
