The Room was nice, but some small points to improve. The Balcony was large with a wonderful view to the lake. The Food was delicious and the Service great. The whole Staff is very helpful and Service orientated. We made a boat trip on the lake before breakfast - peaceful and nice. We went on a Safari and it was a REAL one - Not Touristic at all. We saw many many elephants and it was a wonderful experience.

Very nice place to visit in Mahiyanganaya Sri Lanka. Located near the lake adds to the echo environment. Boat trips and bird watching is also available. If you’re lucky wild elephants could be spotted nearby. Plenty of activities to do and the friendly staff will guide you.

The hotel location was perfect. The room is also in good condition. The staff was also friendly. However, when I reserved the hotel for a triple room on a half-board basis it was LKR 28,000. But once I went there, I needed to take lunch as well. So, I asked them to upgrade to a full board basis and they agreed and said that the price is LKR 30,500. Later when I checked out of the hotel, I was surprised because the bill was LKR 43,500. Then I asked them about the bill. They said that LKR 34,500 for the full board basis and my 9-year-old younger son was charged LKR 9,000 for the food. I said that I have been in 5-star hotels, and they only charge LKR 3,000 - 4,000 for a child's meals. Therefore, guys very careful when you are going there, discuss clearly and fix the prices to avoid surprises.

Our stay at Mapakada Village was a delightful experience, and we left with positive sentiments. The location is serene, overlooking the beautiful Mapakada Lake, which adds a calming ambiance to the property. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the food. The meals were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The variety of dishes, particularly the authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, was impressive and left us thoroughly satisfied. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring our comfort throughout the stay. The property itself is well-maintained, with clean rooms and thoughtful amenities that made our time there relaxing and enjoyable. Mapakada Village is a perfect spot for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy great food amidst natural beauty.

We had a great stay here. Our booking was through a third party private tour operator. The room was nice, a little small but with a good balcony overlooking the pool and the lake. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The meals were buffet style, we had one very windy day where the small heating flames couldn't keep up so the food was all very cold, but it was generally tasty and well cooked. Highly recommend the spicy arrack cocktail! We also went on the waterfall hike with village visit (shout out to Ushan our guide for this part), and the sunrise boat trip on the reservoir which were both excellent. We had booked the breakfast on the lake but the wind came in for three days and meant we couldn't do it, they were very apologetic and refunded the difference, although we still had the special breakfast in the lake view restaurant. Epic sunsets over the hills.

Looking at all the great reviews we booked one double room and another triple room a month ahead as it was a long weekend. When we finally got to the hotel after a very long drive from colombo the experience we had to face was so unfortunate! After getting us to pay inadvace to confirm the booking( which was 58,000 rupees for 5 adults) when we got there they have given the superior rooms away. The management staff who were not at all apologetic just simply said well the 02 small double rooms (which you don't see in pictures) are the one's which are remaining so you'll will have to just take that! Mind you these are so small and on top it they were trying to put a small bed with a spring mattress to make it a triple!!! We were not going to be cooped up for 02 days so we had to take our business elsewhere. What still shockes me is how they acted as if it's our fault, went as far as to say we weren't sure whether you will come!!!! After paying for a full day!! It was just a low class sales gimmick to make a buck to sell their horrible dingy rooms! So if you don't want to be stranded after going all that way go to ELEPHYARD hotel in mahiyanganaya, cheaper but quality is way better!!!

We booked triple room to stay for two nights to visit Vedda’s Village as well to enjoy staying with the lake view in the pool. We came with 3 kids to get our adventure just tonight. The room didn’t have any view (please see photo below) with two massive AC cooling blocks before our window. The bathroom is too tiny to squeeze with even one kid. The open restaurant terrace with lake view is under maintenance. The staff is not self-aware what they are selling. It doesn’t cost its money and doesn’t even worthwhile staying. The hotel is empty. They are reluctant to give us better room. My kids are too tired from the road so that we must pay full price (not discounted for inconveniences). I cannot tell more than I am totally upset and angry.
