Hotel Blü Gastein

Amazing hotel in Bad Hofgastien, perfectly located in the centre of town and within walking distance of the ski lifts. We stayed in the new part of the hotel and the rooms were great. Very comfortable beds, excellent showers and balcony. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Set menu changed every night and the presentation and quality of the food could not be faulted. All the staff were very friendly and attentive especially the owner Eva who was ‘hands on’ every night greeting the guests and making sure the place ran like clockwork. She even checked the hotel registration and thought it was my birthday (date format issue) so they decorated our table and organised special desert. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to return next year. Thank you Blu Hotel for a very memorable week.

We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. Honestly, for the price we paid, the room was really really tiny. The bathroom with no window, very small and very old (there wasn’t even the shampoo). The room was so small that it was impossible to open two suitcases at the same time. It has no refrigerator and the twin bed was instead two single beds close together and moreover with casters as bed feet so that they were constantly moving around. A really bad room. As for breakfast, it is really very varied, there is literally everything and the breakfast area is very cozy. The sauna area is very quiet and nice.

Have just returned from a weeks ski holiday staying at the Hotel Blu and really couldn’t find a bad thing to say about our weeks stay there. As we booked our stay through Crystal we were as expected allocated the older rooms in the main part of the hotel. The room was small but perfectly adequate and had a balcony. The bathroom was also a bit small but most importantly had a fantastic shower with constant hot water which is needed after a long days skiing. Our room was situated above the restaurant area below but it was very quiet and never had an issue getting a good nights sleep. The bar and restaurant at the hotel are very contemporary and modern but the staff working there manage to make sure it still retains a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast buffet every morning was extensive with plenty of choices and even an omelette station where you could get fresh omelettes cooked every morning. The food in the restaurant on an evening was fantastic and much better than expected. You also have the option of ordering from the restaurants main A La Carte menu for a small supplement if the small fixed menu was not to your taste on any particular day. It was by far the best food we have had whilst on a ski holiday. The ski and boot room was also modern and large enough to accommodate everyone’s equipment. Unfortunately we didn’t get chance to use the hotels spa facilities so can’t comment on those. The hotel is a good 10-15 minute walk from the gondola station in Bad Hofgastein but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel that gets you there in a couple of minutes. Nobody in our party of six would hesitate to return to the hotel for a future holiday be it for skiing or a summer trip.
