Abbotsford Hotel

From start to finish this hotel and its staff were brilliant!! The rooms were very well set up and individually decorated -we stayed in a twin room called the hairy coo. It was perfect. The meal was delicious and the breakfasts the best we’d had in a very long time. Reception staff. Night porter and waitress staff were all helpful. Friendly and attentive. Cannot fault our stay.

Beautifully renovated room . (Ours was the Monarch) . Good food, individually prepared excellent breakfast. Lovely location in south Ayr, easy walk to the beach, Rozelle and Belleisle Parks and Burns Cottage. Friendly, caring staff especially Mary.

We had dinner here last night and the service was awful. We couldn’t fault the food but as we were sat outside, we felt forgotten about. 40 minutes it took to receive the drinks order despite having gone inside to get their attention twice. Once the food arrived nobody came to ask us if we wanted another drink or if we needed anything. Decent meal, terrible service. Left the place thirsty…

⸻ Abbotsford Hotel Restaurant – Outstanding Service and a Fantastic Meal I went to the Abbotsford Hotel restaurant this evening at around 8:30–8:45 pm and asked which chef was on. The young sous-chef, Nav, came out to speak with me. It was clear that the kitchen was winding down for the night, but I asked if there was any chance of having something to eat. Nav kindly agreed to make me a steak with some vegetables. I knew the fryers had been turned off and the kitchen was cleaned down, so I wasn’t expecting much – but what I got was fantastic. I went through to the restaurant and was warmly greeted by Tommy, who was friendly, welcoming, and made me feel very comfortable. I ordered a drink and settled in. When the meal arrived, it was beautifully presented. The vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked, the steak was spot-on, and – amazingly – they served hand-cut chips! Here’s a perfect example of under-promising and over-delivering. What a turnaround – and what a delight. Full marks to the Abbotsford. The meal was absolutely fantastic, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. And I should know – I used to own the Savoy Park Hotel in Ayr, which was number one on TripAdvisor for years. These guys definitely deserve to be right up there too. ⸻

This is without question,the worst place for food in Ayrshire. Grotty,run down hotel with a completely clueless chef. Avoid like the black plague

Myself and my partner stayed the night in The Dundonald Links Room which was fabulous. My partner who loves golf was over the moon with the room decor. The room had a fan in it which was amazing as due to the weather it was quite hot but the fan cooled the room down within minutes. The staff were incredible a big shout out to Mary at reception who very kindly gave us a lift to a nearby hotel as we were attending a wedding and it was over an hours wait for a taxi. We can’t thank Mary enough for her kindness. All the hotel staff were so welcoming and kind, breakfast was lovely and we had the most amazing sleep in the comfiest bed. We would absolutely stay here again such a gorgeous hotel with amazing staff.
