Augathella Palms Motel

This is a friendly country motel attached to pub. Our cabin was light and spacious with a well equipped kitchenette and bathroom with a good shower and very comfortable king bed. Air conditioning was efficient and quiet. The only downside was the strong smell of cleaning/deodorising material used which was overpowering when we first entered and still lingered a little after two days. We ate at the pub which was excellent with huge portions. Augathella is a small but interesting little town for a stopover with a supermarket and cafe and the most unusual public toilets.

Stayed here for one night while travelling north. From looking at the photos we were expecting to stay in one of the lovely little cabins. Unfortunately the park was full of workers and we were allocated a small "shack" that was attached to an old residence. Despite our initial shock at the appearance of our room, it was clean, spacious, warm and comfortable. The room really lacked privacy though. The front door was completely made of frosted glass and had no curtains or blinds. The window blind didn't close properly either. Additionally, we could clearly hear the voices and footsteps on the creaky floor of the people staying in the neighbouring residence. It really didn't feel private. Had a lovely dinner at the pub next door.

Customer service is exactly as you'd expect from a small outback town like Augathella, the staff were so friendly and helpful. We stayed in a family room which seemed to be a converted carport attached to a house in amongst the cabins. Was very good for an overnight stay. The pub was definitely a highlight for us, the meals were top notch.

This is adjoining the Ellengowan pub and has clean , modern demountables with air conditioning, basic tea and coffee facilities and a comfortable bed with dark blinds to aid in getting a decent sleep for a long haul drive. Price is very reasonable too and would recommend ringing the pub or Palms Motel direct to book as it worked out cheaper than travel websites.

The room was large with two singles & a king bed. Carpet was clean & whole unit was neat & tidy. Beds were comfortable but there were many maintenance issues which required addressing & should have been noted & fixed before check in. This unit is advertised as a deluxe, apart from the king bed not sure about the rest. We had dinner at the hotel, the staff were great & friendly but the meals weren't 'special'. Overall the room is great but basic. I opened the curtains in the kitchenette for some natural light, bad move, the view was a 'junk yard'.
