Abigail's Bed and Breakfast Inn

Staying at Abigail's is like staying with a mother who loves to cook for you and is obsessed with making sure you have a good time. Plan to eat only two meals a day if you stay at this B&B because the breakfasts (always delicious) will see you through until dinner. If you want information or a recommendation for local entertainment, all you have to do is ask, and your hostess Susan will reel off a list of possibilities, pressing informational material into your hands. And while you're out having your adventure, she and husband Adam will tidy your room so you don't have to. Abigail's is only about a 10 to 15 minute walk from downtown Ashland, where the famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival plays. Also available are shops, restaurants and the beautiful Lithia Park, which includes a Japanese garden. I don't have anything bad to say about this place. Just don't bring too many people there so I can't get a reservation.

We knocked on the door on a rainy late afternoon with no reservation and were received with a smile, invited in and were told what was available. We agreed (the rate was reasonable and lower than expected) and enjoyed a tour of the home. We were offered cookies, tea, coffee and other goodies before we even unpacked. My wife said the breakfast was 'the best ever' with a 1st course of fruit and almond bread and then an omelet that was as good as any we've ever had. We were on a short trip to north Oregon and decided to book a room for our return trip back to San Jose. We were running later than our ETA (rain on 1'5 and the Inn Keeper, Adam, called us to make sure we were ok. "We were worried about you" he said knowing the weather was bad. The breakfast was different but no less enjoyable and served with juice, coffee and tea. The Inn Keepers, Adam and Susan, were friendly, engaging and very willingly answered our questions about where to eat and gave us the history of this very nice victorian home. We are, for sure, repeat guests the next time we go north.

Innkeepers Susan and Adam do so much for the comfort of their guests. Going to the outdoor theater? A bag with two cushions and two blankets is waiting by the back door, along with a selection of umbrellas. Coming home from a play? Freshly baked cookies or cupcakes are on the sideboard, along with everything you need to make coffee or tea. Complimentary cans of soda are in the refrigerator. The towels are fluffy, the beds comfortable, the decor suits the house. There are rockers on the front porch and comfortable chairs in the living room. Susan's two-course breakfasts, sweet and savory, are feasts. You will not need lunch!
