Le Dome

Small, friendly, independent hotel with parking in the centre of Arras, and in a very quiet area. Perfect for an overnight stay whilst visiting the Christmas market. Large, comfortable beds, good shower too. Generous continental breakfast.

When we arrived at the hotel we were a little concerned as the car park area looks really run down. We got to the door and it was locked. After using google to translate the sign on the door we realised we needed to call a number if the door was locked. We did but there was no answer. My husband went into the bar next door and found someone to open up. He was very apologetic and we quickly got checked in. The room was really clean, had a lovely comfortable bed with the softest sheets. The shower was great and we were really pleased. We thought we were in for a lovely stay, however we did have a couple of issues. The air conditioning unit was really loud. We had to turn it off at night but the room became unbearably hot. When we opened the window there was lots of noise from the street including what sounded like a fight. The worst issue was the paving on the entrance to the car park was replaced on our first full day. This meant pneumatic drills waking us up after what had already been a disturbed sleep. We wanted to explore battlefields around Arras but were not able to get the car out because of the work being done. The car was trapped in until just after 5pm. To add insult to injury we had been charged £20 for using the car park! We never saw any staff the whole time we were there so there was no one to help us. We wouldn’t have even minded if we had been given the heads up and we had been given the opportunity to move to a different car park.

Lovely little hotel with spacious rooms and big comfortable beds. The breakfast was good and the owner very pleasant and helpful. Great secure parking although the entrance is tight. Only improvement could be cleaner bathrooms and the shower could be updated.

The hotel was initially difficult to find because the photograph on Tripadvisor shows the main square in Arras, which we know well and the hotel is nowhere near the main square so the photo is very misleading. I think the hotel should be made to put a photo of the front of the hotel and the entrance and then it would be much easier to find. Once we had located the building we were welcomed by a very charming gentleman who owns the hotel. He checked us in, gave us a bottle of water and showed us to our room. We had a room at the back of the house looking over the car park so the view was not inspiring but it was very quiet. I don’t know what the rooms on the other side of the house would be like as they are facing the road. We walked into the centre of Arrras which was only a short walk away and had a drink and a meal in one of the two lovely squares. It was a lovely summers evening so the square was buzzing with life. We went back to the hotel and had a very comfortable nights sleep in the largest bed we’ve ever seen. It was amazing. The room was large and airy with modern art and furniture which we liked. It was spotlessly clean and peaceful. In the morning we enjoyed an excellent breakfast in the dining room which was also tastefully decorated with modern art and modern furniture. The gentleman owner was there to make coffee and chat. We only spoke French to him and I don’t know whether he speaks English but he was absolutely charming. Now I know where the hotel is I would definitely return there.

Lovely small hotel. The decor is modern and nicely done, beds are very comfortable including 2 decent pillows. It is also very quiet being in it's own little courtyard off the main road. Note the picture is not the hotel but the Place des Heros! The turning into the hotel is tiny and just a couple of buildings before the traffic lights....we missed it first time round. And they charge for parking at 10 Euros a day. There isn't a dedicated hotel reception as with bigger hotels. The restaurant next door was excellent and they give you a discount off the fixed price menu if you tell them you are staying at the Dome...and next door to that is a Karaoke bar with lovely friendly people. Highly recommend for a city stay.

Great hotel lovely fresh and clean and in ideal location near the main station for onward travel there is parking on site which was a big positive for us. The town has many bars and restaurants and also museums one of which we visited and was free entry
