Family of 8 (3 children) staying 4 nights. Few staff spoke or understood English. That explained the problems we had. First at the pool they were playing American rap music full of sexual expletives and foul words. My grandchildren brought it to my attention and I asked them to change the record !! Their hamburger, I told the waiter, was the worse I have had in my life (I’m 79). No Wi-if room 9. No signs saying toilet paper must be placed in bin and not in the bowl. Their room safe operate on batteries and when they go flat, they emit a continuous screeching noise. That only happens every six months or so, if you are lucky. My daughter and the two children, sharing a room, were unlucky and could not sleep all night. Knowing that the person on duty that night could not speak English, she did not telephone Reception. In the morning, aware of the problem I tried to communicate with the manager Mr Daniel but he was always “in a meeting”. Asked to be contacted by the pool, to no avail. On the 5th visit to Reception I complained to him but there was no apologies : it was my daughter’s fault for not contacting Reception at 1 am or so, to get them to remove the safe or move the three of them to another room. To make matters worse my daughter had a stomach bug that night. Hotel directors will not accept any responsibility for the lack of sleep of their 3 guests, tough luck ! Ms Vanessa, from Reception was extremely simpathetic towards our problem as well as the chambermaids. We were to change room but in the end I signed to have the safe removed (shelf held by safe collapsed, what a mess). Choose this hotel at your peril, but, beforehand, make sure you are a lucky person and can speak Portuguese or Spanish ! Unfortunately I can't upload the video with the noise but if Tripadvisor has a way for me to do so, please advise how I can add it to my Review. Photo of grand children covering the ears with pillows and the mess left after they took the safe away.
