Château du Bû

Chateau du Bu has a very long driveway, the view when you reach the chateau is so beautiful. Our room was huge, and such very high celings, and very large windows. The room itself was very comfortable, and we had a lovely view of the lake from one window, and the pretty gardens from the other. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast , that had all been laid out on a table ready for us. The lady that looked after us was lovely and very friendly too.

Stayed here in March with teenage kids. It’s the off season, but we had a wonderful stay. Our room was huge with fantastic views from both sides, and was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic: very fresh and with lots of everything. Although the ground is wet that time of year, we enjoyed walking on the grounds and visiting the ducks and geese, and got in some archery. We also drove around visiting lots of nearby attractions: beautiful countryside.

We stayed at the property for two nights at the beginning of October. The owner is incredibly nice an so were his beautiful cats. He and his staff were very generous and made us feel at home. Is is a very friendly place to stay at. We highly recommend.

My fiancé and I went to Paris and Normandy for our honeymoon. We stayed at Chateau Du Bu towards the end of our trip, after spending several days in Paris. Andy, the Host was outstanding. From beginning to end including his communication before our arrival. The Chateau is clean and romantic. It’s spacious and has lovely perks. Bathrooms are updated and toilets are heated. They offer slippers and robes which I used daily. The breakfast they offer daily was fresh and plentiful. Lots of choices from breads, fruit, eggs, cereal, muffins, rolls and croissants. There is no lunch or dinner on the property so make sure you pick up a bottle of wine and baguette for snacking later. The grounds are beautiful and so were the rooms. Comfortable beds as well. Amazing place and an extraordinary experience. My children (7, 9) loved the archery, the giant trampoline, the bidet, the breakfast, (free for kids and absolutely delicious) and the flowers. My husband and I loved the quiet, the vast fields, the huge old trees, the free whiskey (!). It is a 50E taxi ride from Bayeaux but very worth it.

Wow! From the very first moment we drove along the drive, and the Château sprang into view, we knew that this was going to be the perfect retreat. The beautiful building has been lovingly & sensitively restored and is set in gorgeous grounds. We received a lovely, warm welcome from Amal who then showed us to our beautiful room overlooking the gardens. The owner, Andy, is also very amenable & friendly. The room was big and luxurious AND there was a special heated toilet seat with personal wash. Quite a luxury. Breakfast was superb - every morning Amal brought us a bowl of chopped fresh fruit and there was a really great selection of cereals, breads, meats, cheeses, croissants etc together with fruit juices, teas & coffee. It was a really delightful way to start the day in such beautiful surroundings. The Château is actually quite easy to find - my advice would be to take the D9 from Carpiquet and then turn left onto the D33 towards Villers-Bocage. The gates to the Château are on the left about half a mile along the road just past an arch of trees. Its position is perfect for exploring the Normandy coastline from Deauville right across to Le Mont St. Michel. The beautiful town of Bayeux is only about 6 miles away as well. So, would we recommend it? Yes we would - 10/10 in every department. We can't wait to go back next year. Many thanks for a memorable stay. Gail & Paul xx
