Commercial Hotel

This gem is a hidden treasure. Don’t be deceived by the exterior; the rough weather stops as soon as you enter the doors. These rooms are top notch. Warm and comfortable with the usual room teas and coffees. Don’t miss out on the excellent breakfasts.

Ideal for one or two night stay if looking for somewhere to be based whilst exploring the area. I stayed in a basic but comfortable single room. The Commercial is close to public transport and a short walk to shops etc

My mum and I decided to have lunch after enjoying the massed Pipes event so the restaurant was very busy. The staff were lovely; very friendly and welcoming. I loved the original artwork on the walls. The menu offers pretty standard fare but the food was cooked well and nicely presented. I would have loved to give 5 stars but the one thing I cannot abide (and probably the only reason I won't go back there) is to have to wade through cigarette smoke to enter the building. Why do people think it is acceptable to smoke in doorways when smoking areas are provided? And why do managers allow it?

Hotel has a Public bar and separate Lounge bar where food is served in both. Food is consistently good, freshly cooked with generous sized portions and very reasonable priced. The prawn salad is very tasty too :) As always great service :) What’s not to like!

After driving 600 miles, come to this hotel to be stuck in a single bed in the attic room which you cannot stand up straight in. Breakfast was ‘continental’ which was a packet muffin and a yogurt. Great way to start the 600 mile back home. £60 absolutely awful! Now sitting in the service station to have breakfast before my long drive home.

Stayed for four nights whilst getting work done on my own property. Big room with double bed en suite and everything you need for a great comfortable stay. Ate in the lounge in the evening with brilliant choice of menu. Well worth the stay and great value. Recommended to anyone.
