The Crown Aldbourne

“Nice Pub, Unpleasant Accommodation” We stayed at the pub for one night. From the outside, it’s a traditional and pleasant-looking place, and the atmosphere in the bar was very enjoyable. The food and drink were good , and we had a lovely evening in that regard. Unfortunately, the accommodation left a lot to be desired. As we were shown to our room, the carpets on the landing and hallway were filthy, and the décor was tatty and worn. While the room itself was as clean as it could be, it was shabby and desperately in need of renovation. The so-called “king-size bed” was a king-size mattress awkwardly placed on a double divan base. Breakfast the next morning was another disappointment. We had to call into the kitchen to get someone’s attention, and when the coffee arrived, it was cold. The food was edible, but that’s about the best I can say for it. I would recommend this pub for its food and drinks, as the bar and dining experience was nice. However, the accommodation is substandard and certainly not worth the stay.

We met family here on Mothering Sunday. The pub was busy with a good atmosphere and the service was friendly. They had a set menu and we all had the slow cooked lamb for mains with various desserts. The food was excellent and reasonably priced at £26.95 for the 2 courses. We'd happily return.

We visited the crown to celebrate my daughter’s 1st birthday. So a family get together with 6 adults and a baby. We were seated in the restaurant with plenty of space and drinks to the table promptly. We then ordered our food, to which 4 of us enjoyed the roast beef, 1 had a chicken burger and 1 had fish and chips. Which both said were great. The roast was delicious; plenty of beef, which melted in the mouth and was all edible no fatty bits, lovely Yorkshire, and a perfect amount of veg. Not too fancy! Just really really tasty. Followed by sticky toffee which was looooovely. Our waitresses was fab and compliments to the chef, Overall a lovely experience - especially with small children. Highly recommend Gutted I didn’t think to take a photo!!!

We had an early family Christmas lunch and the food, drink and service were excellent. Our waitress was very helpful and made sure we got everything we needed. Thank you to everyone at The Crown for making our lunch so fantastic. I would recommend this pub to anyone.

I visited the Crown for a business lunch and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It's a beautiful pub in a quaint village. The staff were extremely helpful - especially the manager, Clare. The food was great and the kitchen staff were very accepting of amendments to my order. 10/10 I highly recommend!

I had a lovely Christmas dinner, the service was prompt and efficient and the bearded chef was particularly good. I think he name was sponge or spring onion, or even sputnik? A Jolly large man, I'm afraid my hearing wasn't at it's best. In any case send him my thanks. All the staff made my experience wonderful.
