Tri overlooks Koggala Lake, giving an secluded private island feel.. the site is simply stunning, each construction seemed to be built to accommodate guests alongside the surrounding ecosystem,* the lakeside villas sunk back into the hill, surrounded by a seemingly endless variety of native trees, plants and wildlife (birds, palm squirrels (chipmunk esq.) and wild peacocks... The proximity to lake/bush/unfamiliar wildlife felt considered in the design and in the management of the property, no insects, monkeys and unfortunately no chipmunks made it into either room I stayed. The design of the villas and rooms is a standout feature — if the creation of a harmonious connection between architecture and nature was the primary objective it was achieved and then some. I'm embarrassed to admit it wasn't until after my stay that I did some research...'Landscape first, people after',* I feel incredibly fortunate to have stayed here, booking a hotel built and designed by globally renowned eco-architects (look them up!!) this was an unexpected privilege!! What made my stay truly unforgettable was Shane, the hotel manager. His extensive experience in hospitality is evident in every detail, especially noticeable in the positive, joyful energy of the staff. Shane’s leadership shines through in his attentiveness and the genuine care his team provides. It’s clear Shane is more than a manager to his staff, their apparent happiness reflects this and benefited me a great deal in feeling immediately at home and very well looked after. Thank you all!! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The pictures don't do it justice, the library above the spa being one example is incredibly special, barely is this captured in the web page photos. The spa itself is basic but doesn't have to be. It was low season but the therapist assigned was located in Galle. I would commit in season to Sanda being onsite on certain days.. I would've booked more had I not known of her 45 minute journey in the dark during monsoon rain, (I've been in Sri Lanka 4 weeks now with many post surf muscle focused massages) and she was by far the most skilled at her trade out of all. It didn't fit with the overall togetherness of the rest of the staff, or hotel ethos.
