Ulasan Elounda Mare Relais & Châteaux Hotel

We had a wonderful Easter here and would definitely recommend it. We stayed in one of the bungalows with a private pool (€80/day to heat it—not cheap, but worth it since the sea and main pool were pretty freezing). The sea views were absolutely stunning—from the bed, the terrace, and the pool. The layout of the bungalows is cleverly designed so you don’t see your neighbors and they don’t see you, which makes for a very private stay. Our bungalow (#6) was spacious enough for a family of three, with comfy beds, a great selection of pillows, and plenty of cupboard space. The bathroom was recently renovated, and it showed—fabulous marble,shower, bathtub. Breakfast was lovely, with a wide variety of food and great coffee. Once again, you get those amazing sea views from the breakfast room. There were plenty of water sports on offer—we tried the crazy sofa and jet ski, both loads of fun. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained, with thoughtful landscaping that in some areas makes it feel more like a little village than a resort. The beach and rocks were lovely too—clear water and plenty of deck chairs. Only downside: the beach bar prices. €5.50 for a tiny cappuccino in a paper cup felt a bit much. We really appreciated the tasteful interior design—1980s modernism, but it didn’t feel dated at all. Quite the opposite, actually—we loved it. The nearby village, with plenty of decent restaurants, is about a 20-minute walk. Did it once on a sunny day (a bit too hot) and drove after that. Huge shout-out to the brilliant staff—from reception to waiters, concierge, parking, water sports, and housekeeping. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and friendly. Well done Elounda Mare!

Relais & Chateaux strikes again! What an incredible stay. We had a bungalow with a private heated pool and sea view. The water taxi service to the various restaurants onsite (there are several restaurants), The quiet, serene setting, the amazing sunrise and friendly staff are to be commended. There is taxi service available to town which made it perfect for enjoying the tranquil setting and still be able to get in to town for the amazing cuisine.

The resort is magnificent with stunning views and the service is great. The reception staff with Maria and the guest concierge are so friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. The boat tours offered on site were amazing in the view, history and experience. It’s a way of life. This hotel and staff are outstanding in every way and Crete is a must visit.

I waffled between four and five stars, but ultimately, I really enjoyed my stay. The negatives were the rooms were a bit dated and need refreshing and the breakfast station is nice enough, but for some reason the eggs to order kept coming out overcooked - like very brown omelettes that I’m not sure why they would send out - so after a couple mornings you don’t want to order them anymore. The many pros are that it’s a beautiful, beautiful property with a small sandy beach and mini cliffs to lay out on as well. The staff were lovely. The place is clean. You can take golf carts/cars to their nearby sister properties for variation. Sumosan was outstanding, the Italian restaurant less so. Lunch on the property was good. The spa is a wonderful facility, but I thought it was odd there were kids there later in the day and I was glad I was about to leave when they started using the sauna, etc. Everyone enjoyed their treatment. I’d also recommend checking out Elounda proper - it’s an easy ride, plenty of cabs to get back readily, and has good tavernas and a little shopping. It’s about an hour from the Heraklion airport.

We loved our two week break at Elounda Mare. We were in a one bedroom suite in the main hotel building, overlooking the pool and the sea beyond. The suite was a little bit tired in places, but very comfortable and clean with good housekeeping. The balcony extended across both the living room and bedroom and was spacious with great views. It was worth an early start to watch the sunrise. As others have commented the grounds are lovely and very well tended. There are a lot of steps and slopes as the hotel is set into a hill which drops down to the sea. Some lovely places to sit on the shore with steps into the sea, as well as the sandy beach. It was a 25 minute walk into town which we did several times, lots of nice restaurants on the water front. We liked Ferryman the best. Taxis are plentiful if you don’t fancy the walk back. The hotel bar was usually quiet, but pleasant with a nice terrace area outside. The boat round to the sister hotel was a nice little trip and the Italian restaurant there was very good. We enjoyed all the meals we had the hotel, breakfast was vey good with a wide choice and fantastic views. This was the only place where the hotel felt busy as a lot of the accommodation is in private bungalows/villas with their own pools. So the main pool was always very quiet and it was always possible to find a good spot by the sea, even though the hotel was apparently fully booked for most of the time we were there. The mid-October weather was beautiful. We hired a car and explored most of the eastern end of the island, which I would recommend.

We came for the second time to Eloúnda Mare Hotel where we spent 9 days in a bungalow with a private pool and with bay view. The hotel is located in a quiet bay with a beautiful private beach. The hotel is very well maintained, the service everywhere efficient and very polite. Breakfast buffet offers a large variety of qualitative food and the restaurants are perfect. You have the Yacht Club close overlooking the beach and the Old Mill à la carte Restaurant for fine dining. Both are romantic places. Also the park of the hotel is green and beautiful. The outdoor pool is very large and beautifully shaped. You really have to come to this beautiful hotel in Crete!

We have just returned from the most fabulous week at Elounda Mare. It’s an absolutely stunning hotel. All of the staff went above and beyond. Nothing was too much. The food was excellent and we really appreciated the advice of the wonderful sommelier. Our room was perfect and the housekeeping was of an exceptionally high standard. We will definitely be returning.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our first stay in a beautiful Deluxe Bungalow with Pool. Our accommodation was luxurious and beautifully appointed; the grounds were finely landscaped. The staff was uniformly cheerful, helpful, and very friendly. We enjoyed a pleasurable and informative Cretan wine tasting with the sommelier and participated in an olive oil tasting with an agronomist. We enjoyed delicious meals and chose from expansive wine lists at The Old Mill, The Yacht Club, and Il Borro. Our experience was truly delightful. We met couples at Elounda Mare who had visited numerous times-- we fully understand why. We look forward to many return visits ourselves.

Simply the best, beautifully landscaped gardens with stunning sea views. Courteous, friendly staff nothing is too much trouble. From the moment you arrive you feel relaxed as everything is done for you . Cannot fault anything, we will be back.

The most relaxing and peaceful hotel and location, with the best staff and service. We have been to the Elounda Mare 5 times, and it remains a sanctuary for a wonderful vacation by the sea, close to fabulous beaches and villages, and filled with the courtesy and friendliness of Crete.

I have been guest of this hotel several tomes along mire than 35 years. Always satisfied for the position, the quality of the rooms and of the service. There are also available several high level restaurants , which give you the possibility to taste different types of food in elegante and special ambients. According to my experience I suggest Sumosan restaurant. It is my favorire one.

Everything about this hotel is perfect- location, accommodation, food and staff. One small improvement ……. The music particularly during breakfast. Killing me softly …… everyday and sometimes twice. Elevator music on a loop last breakfast tomorrow

Looking through the reviews, and indeed ours from previous visits , we all agree location - a delight , staff as friendly and efficient as you might want , food very good particularly at the old mill , il Boro , and the yacht club - at the last named some perfectly grilled fish . The new manager is keen for you to know if you have any issues let him know -but we didnt . The hotel is in a most beautiful , and serene location the phone is out to capture the beauty of the views from the yacht club , the beach bar - rose champagne at 12 everyday-and from the walks around the hotel estate . We did not leave the hotel - didnt need to -that says it all . Sad to leave this little paradise , our "royalty suite " with its little pool and views of the sea imprinted on our memory -until next time .

Everything was perfect, we loved the rocky area with sun beds, the yoga classes with Grit were a great way to start the day. Breakfast is really nice and the settings of all the restaurants across the three hotels are beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for better service in every aspect, we will be bavk next year!
