nice location, very friendly staff but rooms need to be upgraded

Lovely hotel

Just back from 4 nights at the Borjes Hotel and had to leave a review about our wonderful stay. The staff are so welcoming and friendly from the moment you step through the door. Check in was a smooth and quick process and before we knew it we were sat in the gardens by the pool with a cocktail. The pool area is clean and inviting and the sun beds are super comfortable, towels are free from reception. The staff who serve the pool/gardens area during the day are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant a couple of nights and can highly recommend the lamb shank tagine and the ribeye steak. Breakfast is the standard continental buffet breakfast with the option of an alfresco cooked omelette. We ventured up to the roof top bar a couple of times, it was very busy at the weekend but more chilled during the week. We had a great stay and will definitely be back.

Just had a fantastic week here, the staff were fantastic so helpful and kind, room was cleaned everyday and was perfect. It was a quiet hotel which I really enjoyed. The restaurant and staff were also all amazing, food was great had some delicious tagines. Pool was beautiful and clean . My only complaint would be that it wasn’t sunny enough but of course I can’t hold the hotel responsible for that. It was a happy distance from the main beach front and busier parts of town, an easy walk or a very cheap taxi ride.

We have been staying over the road at Timoulay Hotel and Spa, but I fell ill from food poisoning from a restaurant. We had to extend our holiday by 3 days so had to stay one night in this hotel as ours was full. ONE NIGHT WAS TOO MANY- if you are thinking of staying here DONT. The staff are ok friendly enough, the hotel is very shabby and needs a good renovation. We were shown to our room through a series of long dark corridors - it felt a bit like a scene from the shinning v creepy my kids would have hated it. We were put in a room with a broken shower, broken toilet seat, broken shower door so the water completely flooded the floors we had to use all the towels to mop it up. The floors were dirty, so much that I wore flip flops throughout the room even in shower! ! I haven’t done that since I went backpacking in Africa in the bush. I wouldn’t expect it from a hotel. We were in a room overlooking a dumping site with wild dogs barking all night. Luckily we were at the far end away from the roof top bar - which is NOT part of the hotel and plays music until 2am. We didn’t hear it from our end but I think this could also be a problem . We didn’t eat here as I think the cleanliness of our room was a big indicator NOT to risk the food. My advice would be don’t book and go to Timoulay Spa over the road which is absolutely fantastic !!

Just back from a weeks stay at this hotel, the staff were friendly and polite but did not respond to any of our complaints, which there were many We were shown to our suite but could not get wifi except on our balcony, but it would take ages to download, then drop out, they took us to another suite but that was just the same, you only seem to get goodish wifi near reception The breakfast was poor and repetitive , every morning had to ask for an orange juice and two slices of toast, which was more like brioche than bread, tables menus and table covers were always dirty and we resorted to taking down wet wipes to clean our table and cutlery The one meal we had in the hotel was ok, it was edible The location of the hotel was not near anywhere so you had to either walk (uphill coming back) or take a taxi everywhere, but they were not expensive and readily available We constantly had to ask for clean towels, when we did get clean towels they smelled musky, and had constantly cool or tepid water, i would complain at the front desk, they would apologise and say they would sort it but nothing would happen The worst part of our stay was the constant boom boom boom 🤯 of music every night, until the early hours of the morning If you want a quiet, clean comfortable hotel with good food in a good location, this is not the hotel to book
