The Syntopia Hotel - Adults Only

We are just home after the most incredible 2 weeks spent here. I don’t know where to begin with this place - the hotel complex itself is absolutely stunning, we loved the boho aesthetic, everything looked beautiful no matter where you looked / or what you took photos of. We particularly enjoyed watching the sunset at the Ano Rooftop bar alongside a cocktail. I will never get over that view and I’m so grateful that I got to experience it. We are a little confused at the poor reviews about the hotel entertainment we absolutely loved it. We thought it was classy, and elegant particularly listening to the piano and violins - these acts have such talent and were beautiful. The staff are ALL amazing. Always greeted with a friendly approach and couldn’t do more for you. They are all a credit to you and your hotel. I would like to give an extra special and warm thank you to the two girls working most evenings at the Ano Rooftop bar, they were so kind to us and made our experience really pleasant when they were serving us. We will really miss them. Please give them the recognition and credit that they deserve! As for the food, we both agreed that it was the best all inclusive food we have ever tasted. The food was fresh, very tasty and loved that there were options for everyone to enjoy. Kudos to all the catering staff for cooking such delicious food & for the waiting staff for their attentiveness and taking away plates promptly. Alongside this, we didn’t arrive till late evening and in our fridge was cold meats and cheeses. We thought this was such a lovely touch after travelling as we hadn’t eaten much that day so thank you for thinking of us. As for the location, it wasn’t ideal. Our room backed onto a really busy main road which made sleeping very difficult as a light sleeper - lots of traffic no matter what time of day it was, however we both agreed that the hotel facilities and complex overrides this. As for the sun beds, i would agree that it was a little challenging to get the ‘nicer’ beds, with people reserving beds and not coming back for hours. This was a little frustrating for us being guests for 2 weeks and only having the opportunity to use these twice during our day. The hotel states that they will remove towels that are not in use, however we never saw this enforced during our day. Additionally, people smoking around the pool as a non-smoker was not pleasant and ruined how we were able to enjoy the facilities with second-hand smoke being blown in our faces most days. Perhaps I would recommend having a designated smoke area for smokers or just removing smoking around the pool altogether. Lastly, we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who made our stay at the Syntopia to be such a memorable one. 14 days worth of beautiful memories of Crete that we will carry with us forever.

We stayed at the Syntopia for a week and what a great experience it was! Very relaxed atmosphere, staff, especially the roof top bar staff were very friendly and approachable. The food was amazing as were the staff and chefs in the restaurant area. No hassle, just a really chilled out vibe. Most of the beds on podiums over the pool were taken pretty early, but that didn't bother us as there was always plenty of beds left to use. The room we had which had an inland view was comfortable and spacious, although the shower did not have a fixture for the shower head so we needed to hold it every time we had a shower. Not a biggie but something worth mentioning. Shout out to Katarina at the Spa also for organising our treatments and being very accommodating. All in all a great stay and this hotel will always be special to us as it's where my partner and I got engaged.

Great food, 3 amazing pools and spa. Outdoor cinema night was also really nice touch. Live band and jazz player was lovely. Sunbeds do get taken quick but we normally found a spot at the jungle pool. Good selection of drinks. Room was modern and clean.

The spa here in the syntopia hotel is definitely worth a visit. We have had the most relaxing experience ever and the best massages by Giannis and Dora. The spa manager Katerina was so understanding and helpful to us. She is very kind and we are forever grateful for the friendliness we have received. We can recommend trying the spa treatments.

hat can I say, from start to finish The Syntopia hotel met and exceeded expectations. We arrived around 4am after a long day travelling to be greeted by a wonderfully helpful guy who showed us to our room gave us a quick rundown of what we needed before we went to bed. We were advised to download an app so when we woke we could fill in other details and get to know the hotel at our pace. It had really useful features and was a great idea! As the hotel were aware of our late arrival we had cold meats and cheese selections plated up in the fridge on our room. We upgraded to a suite which was amazing. Looking out on the pool we had a huge room with a well thought out layout. It felt like a studio apartment rather than a hotel room. This was cleaned each day if needed/wanted. We had a mini bar included in our suite which was also stocked each day, with a kettle and coffee machine available too. As far as I am aware each room was replenished with a large bottle of water each day too. After this great start the week kept getting better. Every staff member, no matter their role, was kind, friendly and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt cared for and respected the whole time. They really are a credit and one of the best hotel teams we have come across. We’ve stayed in all inclusive hotels before and found with such a huge variety of food it can become bland and “samey”. Not here. The meat and fish were cooked fresh on the grill and the flavours were restaurant quality. Always a selection of fresh vegetables and potatoes, rice, pasta or salad to accompany it. Breakfasts would cater to all with fresh fruits, cereals, yoghurts and cooked breakfasts. Again, all delicious. As mentioned in another review, certain cocktails weren’t available until 5:30pm, which although it is stated on the menus, it could be clearer on the App. This never bothered us as almost all other drinks were available and certain frozen cocktails were included during the day. You won’t struggle to find something you enjoy. Plastic cups mean drinks can be had at the pool side. These are sturdy plastic cups like those used in beach clubs, so substantial and safe. Glassware is used inside the restaurant but outside is all plastic. The building is kept immaculate, with staff working throughout the day to keep all the areas clean and tidy and repairs monitored and fixed. There are three pools, we chose only to use the main pool as we loved the atmosphere. The pool was warm, never felt crowded and the other guests were all respectful. There is drinks service around the pool too which wasn’t expected but very much appreciated! Each pool, however looked inviting and all were clean and tidy. There was a variety of beds and cabanas all which look in great condition and were comfortable. To get a cabana on the water I was up before 8, but there are plenty of beds so you wouldn’t have to rush. We just like sitting on the edge dipping our toes in the water.

We had the best experience at The syntopia, blown away about the service, soooo good food, drinks, room and hospitality. The Syntopia is really the hotel to go to if you want a relaxing and luxury experience. Big thanks to Michael in the reception for taking such good care of us and made us keep our room full day for our late departure, really recommend to take the all inclusive part, then you will have the big range of drinks during the full day and the food was way over all our expecations. Also Harah from the pool service who always had a smile on her face and kept us hydrated by the pool every day. Rooms are also very high designed with inspiring interior. Just finished a fantastic 10 days at The Syntopia and it has been fantastic. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with firstly the most amazing aroma ( may have purchased the candle and reed diffuser) smiling, helpful staff we just knew we had made a great choice. The hotel was so clean and just felt so chilled. Our room was beyond what we thought, so spacious and comfortable, great shower too. The food is fantastic not one single complaint there, the staff were great and you should be so proud of them, especially Christina in the morning and lunchtime she was a superstar and looked after us. We used the Jungle Pool area as we found it perfect for us and the bar area there was called The Catch which is run by an absolutely brilliant guy (forgot his name) but he was superb and worked the area and catered for everyone with pride and real perfection, nothing was to much trouble and always with a smile, the guy needs a promotion for sure. Dinner was delicious also and again great staff. There is also a boutique called The Keepsake which has some lovely things and also cool (you can also buy the hotels signature aroma items) again very friendly staff and no pressure. We will go home eulogising to everyone about the hotel and we will definitely be back.

I stayed here with my partner for 9 nights at the end of June through to early July. We went for the Jungle Suite as we hate the thought of fighting for sunbeds around main pools and getting up ridiculously early to secure a sunbed, that’s not relaxing for us at all and we’d much prefer to be in our own zen bubble. The jungle suite was just like the photos, could not fault the room, garden area or jacuzzi at all. In fact the whole hotel was picture perfect, spotlessly clean and always smelt amazing. The only slight ****** is that the hotel is situated on a main road so there’s lots of sound from all types of vehicles at all times of the day, sometimes being woken up in the middle of the night to loud motorbikes so perhaps better sound proof glass could be considered although I will say I’m a light sleeper. As a younger couple we liked the idea of the app and always found that every request put through the app was adhered to promptly and as we had the jungle suite and spent a lot of time in the garden and jacuzzi, it was nice to request a time for housekeeping/jacuzzi maintenance for when we went for lunch and then come back to it done. There’s a few reviews that the check in process was cold, rushed and just directed to the app by reception however we didn’t arrive until approx 2am and the man on reception was very welcoming, informed us of the app, showed us to our room and took us through everything in the room and how to work air con, shower, tv, jacuzzi etc as well as all the other basics about the hotel that we’d need to know so couldn’t ask for anything better there. We also had water and food in our room for when we arrived. I would say the food choice let the hotel down slightly and for us didn’t make it worth being all inclusive. There wasn’t much to choose from and we found it very repetitive and also the quality and taste very average - just typical all inclusive type foods. A couple of nights there were ‘themes’ but only a few dish options alongside the same other dishes every night. I think going all inclusive you know the typical buffet style food you’ll get but previous reviews hyped us up that it would be amazing and we were slightly disappointed although by no means was it terrible food, just not as good as we hoped. However the staff in the restaurant were always very quick to offer drinks and take away plates. After a few nights we found ourselves gravitating towards eating out just for more variety and taste. There’s some nice bars and restaurants along the same road as the hotel and we spent almost every evening in the Roulis beach bar which is partnered with the hotel, either for food or just a cocktail. The entertainment also never seemed to be anything worth sticking around for, as above we went out most nights for either food or a drink and when coming back the entertainment was still on and guests didn’t seem to be all that interested in it and more forcing themselves to be there just to take advantage of th

Sometimes I wonder if the photos and instagram posts are really accurate... for Syntopia, they are. The hotel is beautiful, attention given to every instagram worthy detail. We travelled for a week with our grown up daughter and enjoyed a fantastic holiday. The hotel when we stayed was very much "love island" like, with plenty of beautiful couples relaxing on comfortable bean bags. There is potentially a lack of sun loungers, tables and locations for those who are single or struggle to get down or up from horizontal! The rooftop Ano bar and pool provided a quieter area with drinks service to your loungers which I would say is absolutely 5star. Food was excellent, although depending on your time of arrival was occasionally "warm". Theme nights eg greek, Mexican, Indian should be promoted more. Sadly we felt the evening entertainment, or lack of it, wad a disappointment. The band were excellent and we would have liked to hear them again during our 1 week stay. Rooms are lovely and stylish, but room tip.. we travelled with Tui and our "pool view " room, over looked the small "jungle pool" but also the very noisy road. Ironically our daughter had an inland view room which was quieter. I suspect sea view rooms are best. Finally, the staff were all fantastic.
