Absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended it to anyone going to Beppu. The location is very convenient, right next to Beppu Station. It's easy to get there from anywhere. The family room has four single beds with a partition in the middle, and the whole family agreed that this was the best hotel we stayed at during our entire trip to Kyushu. The breakfast offers many options, and in the evening, there are ramen and ice cream. Although we didn't have time to wait for the private hot spring, the public baths were very satisfying! There are both outdoor and indoor baths, allowing us to completely relax after a tiring day. This hotel is definitely a must-stay when visiting Beppu.

Excellent hotel! I originally planned to stay at a traditional onsen hotel in Beppu, but I stumbled upon this one, saw great reviews, and decided to give it a try. I was extremely satisfied! The breakfast was the most lavish and delicious I had during my 9-day trip to Japan. It was absolutely divine! In the evenings, complimentary welcome drinks are offered (alcoholic beverages incur a 1000 yen charge). You can borrow yukata from the front desk. There's a large public bath on the 14th floor, and the rooftop features a terrace pool and a bar, offering stunning night views of Beppu Tower, perfect for photos. Just note, the pool is quite shallow and not really suitable for serious swimmers. The bathroom layout is well-designed with a separate wet and dry area, and the shower space is very spacious. Its prime location is another major plus, just a 10-minute walk to JR Beppu Station. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Beppu!

Dinner and breakfast : all food was cold because half of the food (about 4-5 small dishes and main) was placed at my table before i went to the restaurant. The servant pushed me to eat faster as the second half (the rest 4-6 small dishes) was put on table when i just started the first half. Quite disappointing. Supposed dessert shd be served after meal, The servant even placed it when i still had 4-5 dishes not finished. Annoying. Hot spring : opening hour was acceptable but there was no view to the beautiful scene at all. Quite disappointing too. The bamboo screen was too enclosed, making me just looking the few plants there. When comparing with Naha, there’s only one type of hot spring and was too traditional. Room : it’s not large as expected. Location: not far from JR/bus station but away from main street to one and only one spot - the lake Conclusion : too expensive when considering the bad dining experience . Not very recommended

This is the most comfortable hot spring hotel I have ever stayed in. Although the location is more remote, but quite quiet, there is a feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle, I like it, is a good place to relax the mind and body, the room's private hot spring is very beautiful, facing the green mountain view, like taking a natural bath. Dinner and breakfast were commendable, Western and Japanese fusion cuisine, very delicious Also very good is that the toilet and shower are separate, but there is a little disadvantage, the toilet light is automatically sensed, if no one is moving, will think no one is in that place will automatically turn off the light, but if you do not move when using the toilet, the light will also suddenly turn off, a little scared

## Yufuin Sansuikan - A North Kyushu Trip We took a bus from Beppu to Yufuin. The JR station is conveniently located directly across the street from the Beppu Hatto Hotel. From there, you can walk through the JR station's waiting area to bus stop #1. Bus #36 takes you directly to Yufuin. The fare is 1100 JPY; you take a numbered ticket when you board and pay upon exiting. Buses are frequent, and the journey takes approximately an hour. Upon arrival, the hotel is an easy 10-minute walk using Google Maps. For an alternative, the renowned Yufuin no Mori train also runs from Beppu to Yufuin, though advance reservations are highly recommended if you wish to experience it. Standard check-in time at Japanese hotels is 3 PM. Guests can drop off their luggage first and then explore Yufuin. Yufuin Sansuikan boasted the largest room among the four hotels we stayed at during this trip, though its decor was also the most dated. Online, I saw prices for the hotel exceeding 4,000 RMB per night during Chinese New Year, which is incredibly poor value for money. Honestly, even at the price we paid, I found it a bit overpriced. Due to North Kyushu's proximity to Korea, there's a significant presence of Korean tourists, particularly noticeable in Yufuin. Overall, my impression was that North Kyushu primarily attracts Korean, *********, Hong Kong, and Shanghainese visitors. The hotel's public onsens are located on the first and second floors; there are no private baths. The women's bath rotates, being on the second floor in the evening and the first floor in the morning. The first-floor onsen is slightly larger than the second, and both feature outdoor rotenburo (open-air baths). Complimentary refreshments are available from 3 PM until 10 AM the following day, including a selection of beverages, ice cream, snacks, tea, and coffee. Beer and other alcoholic drinks are also offered in the evenings. In summary, Yufuin Sansuikan is generally an average option. It could be considered if you need a place to stay for one night in Yufuin.

This hotel is perfectly located right in the heart of Beppu's Hells, with attractions literally on its doorstep. All five Hells (Jigoku) are within a 3-5 minute walk, which is incredibly convenient! While the hotel's exterior is unassuming, its interior is a hidden gem. The Japanese garden in the common areas is beautiful. Our room was spacious with a great view, allowing us to see the steam rising from the Hells. Plus, having a private onsen in the room meant we could soak to our heart's content! We even had the large public bath all to ourselves during our visit. The Teppanyaki set meal we booked was a good experience, though we wished there was a little more meat. We specifically requested Japanese-style breakfast when booking, but for some reason, we were given Western-style instead. When we inquired, the staff informed us that it couldn't be changed. On a very positive note, it was our wedding anniversary trip, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared a small gift and took commemorative photos for us – a very nice touch! Aside from these minor issues, everything else was fantastic. The only real downside was the hotel's shuttle service to the station. While they offer it, the last departure is strictly before 11 AM. If you miss it, you have to take a taxi. It feels a bit inconvenient to offer a service with such a limited timeframe. For instance, we visited the Hells in the morning and ended up leaving the hotel after 11 AM, so we had to take a taxi to the JR station. An improvement here would be much appreciated! Overall, my husband, who was visiting Japan for the first time, said it was an excellent Japanese onsen hotel experience. He gives it a big thumbs up!

Facilities: The hotel building has its name prominently displayed on the top floor, making it easy to spot and find. It’s a traditional Japanese hotel; while the facilities might look a bit dated, they possess a charm and strength that comes with age. The rooms are spacious, with a separate wet and dry area. The bathroom vanity is also large, which is quite generous for a hot spring hotel offering dinner and breakfast (ichihaku-nisyoku). The public bath isn't huge, but it's perfect for a relaxing soak after washing up (toiletries are provided, though I only saw facial cleanser, no makeup remover, so it's advisable to bring your own). I went during dinner time, so I had the place all to myself, which was wonderfully comfortable. After showering, drinking water and vending machines are available right outside the bath entrance. I didn't book a private bath, so I can't comment on that. Cleanliness: Overall, it was very good. The tatami mats were clean, and you can always trust the standards of Japanese establishments. Environment: The surroundings are peaceful and serene. Our room faced the ocean, and the sea was especially calm in the morning. The grassy slopes and walking paths along the coast were also very pleasant and distinctly Japanese! We took a comfortable stroll there in the evening. The town was particularly quiet and tranquil in the mornings, and Beppu Station was only about a ten-minute walk away. Highly recommend! Service: The service was excellent. During check-in, they provided a detailed explanation of the facilities and let us choose our dinner and breakfast times based on our arrival. This perfectly aligned with our itinerary for the next day, which was great. Dinner was delicious, with a generous selection of sashimi and hot pot dishes. Soft drinks could be ordered separately. It was ample for two adults and one child. Breakfast was traditional Japanese, served in a small private room with an ocean view – lovely. On the morning of our second day, I unexpectedly got my period. I wanted to buy sanitary pads, so I showed a translation to the elderly lady at the front desk. She immediately went into the back room and brought out several different types, neatly wrapped in paper for me. It was incredibly thoughtful. There's also self-service coffee available in the lobby, worth trying. Overall, we were very satisfied. We spent two days and one night in Beppu, visiting the 'Hells' (hot spring tour) and the Kyushu Natural Zoological Park. It's a town definitely worth a second visit.

The atmosphere was very relaxing and chill — perfect for couple and a group getaway. The staff were friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. One little thing - the bathroom door of this room type is somehow translucent sliding door, no lock, which can be a bit uncomfortable when staying with a group. A normal one would offer more privacy. Overall, a great experience!

Nice hotel in quiet location. Love the room size and river view. Both dinner & breakfast were good. The bed was firm but the pillow was too soft. They don't give extra pillow. A short drive to shopping mall - AEON & Daiso.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel said it provides free shuttle from JR to hotel upon arrival at Yufuin with prior booking via email, but they didn’t reply email until you called them. Finally we need to walk to the hotel with our bulky luggages. During check in, we checked with the female staff in short hair whether we can book a shuttle the next day, and she said they don’t have this service. When I asked again why they said in the booking description that the hotel provided free shuttle if they actually didn’t, she kept saying ‘No’! When she explained the dinner arrangement, I told her one of our family members doesn’t eat beef. Then, she gave us a poker face and blamed us for not telling her earlier. However, the point is the hotel couldn’t be connected via email, and they didn’t specify that guests should have informed them the preferred meal before arrival. Except this female staff at reception, other service staff are polite and friendly.

GGuest UserHotel surroundings and cleanliness was top notch. Dinner and breakfast set were amazingly tasteful and filling. Food served was fresh and served based on our eating pace. All the staff are all well versed with English and friendly with our request. The onsen itself was great but the entrance to the men and ladies onsen was just next to each other. Ladies privacy could be easily violated as the main door was the see-through type. We were not feeling quite comfortable with the entrance layout.

GGuest UserThe hotel is situated 15 minutes taxi ride from the Beppu station. So we have nowhere to go that night. But it's good enough to have hotspring and drinks in the hotel. The staff is very polite and can explain what you can do in English. Then you were lead to the room and tips rejected. We booked the Kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The dinner time is either 6pm or 6:30pm and the breakfast time 8am or 8:30. The dinner is good but maybe my expectation is quite high, it didn't reach my expectation, especially for the sashimi. For the onsen, there are 4 private onsens and 2 public. One of the private onsens is closed. Therefore we can use 3. You can use the private onsen when it is not occupied. Just lock the door and turn the plate to the other side. But all the onsen are closed by 12 midnight. And there is a room with free flow beer and soda, but it closes at 10pm. Don't drink beer before taking hotspring. There is also an onsen in our room which can be used anytime. It's hot at night but not so hot in the next morning. Overall, the view is good. The staff is good. The food is good (just not so great) and the onsens are good. Beppu is a good place to stay a few days more

Each room in the hotel is a separate building and is relatively large, about 50 square meters. Some rooms have private baths, and there are also outdoor private baths. You can book a one-night stay with two meals and enjoy the evening happy hour. It is suitable for slow-paced relaxation and rest.
