This was the second time I had stayed at the Grand Hotel des Terreaux. The hotel is in a central location in Lyon, and I like the style. The service was excellent, they speak English, and I loved the breakfast buffet. The room I stayed in was very nice but on the smaller side, typical for hotel rooms in France. The bed was very comfortable for me, and the room had air conditioning which is great as it can get quite warm in France. Wireless access was included, and fast and reliable. Overall an excellent hotel I can highly recommend.

The hotel is just opposite the train station. You can see Campanile when you look up. Please note that the check-in time of this hotel is very punctual at 14:00. If you come early, you must wait until 2 o'clock to check in. Even a minute earlier is not allowed. The hotel itself is fine except that it is a little small (suitable for one person). There is free drinking water in the lobby, including sparkling water, and it seems that hot water is also provided. The breakfast is average. The location is very close to the train station, only 1 minute away. The only downside is that it is expensive, a budget hotel, and the price of a domestic five-star hotel.
