But it is not the automatic answer for everyone. 🌃 TSIM SHA TSUI Best for a classic first trip with the harbour close by, strong Kowloon access and both MTR and Star Ferry options. 🏙️ CENTRAL Better when Hong Kong Island, dining, evenings, ferries and Airport Express matter more—and you are comfortable with hills and vertical walking. 🛍️ CAUSEWAY BAY Best when shopping, food and energetic evenings are part of the holiday itself rather than simply somewhere you return to sleep. And don’t overlook Wan Chai for a balanced Island base, or Mong Kok / Yau Ma Tei / Jordan if Kowloon street life, markets and food matter more than staying beside the harbour. The biggest booking mistake is choosing only by district name. A hotel that looks “near the MTR” can still involve a poor luggage route, awkward station access, stairs, slopes or a long final walk. I’ve always found it interesting how much the cost of getting a passport can vary from one country to another.
